Kenyon Martin: Fined

K-Mart’s wallet took a hit after he got a little too frisky with Dirk Nowitzki for the League’s liking: “Denver Nuggets forward Kenyon Martin has been fined $25,000 and assessed a flagrant foul for contact that occurred with the Dallas Mavericks’ Dirk Nowitzki, the NBA’s executive vice president of basketball operations, Stu Jackson, announced Monday.”

    A fine Kenyon should gladly pay.
    That play, which happened early on, set the tone for the physical pounding Dirk would endure over the rest of the game.
    Yes, Dirk still got his, but he got pushed around quite a bit…..

    Never in their 40+ year history have the Nuggets been even closely considered, “dirty” or title contenders, for that matter

    Riggs, very early, dirk beat kenyon baseline from the left wing and KM bumped Dirk to stop him from getting to the rim.

    A half-sec later as they slowed down, kenyon “roller-derby” hip-checked dirk into the row of photogs.

    It was dirtyish, he extended that elbow pretty far, but I don’t know if it was any more his fault than Dirk’s trying to jump into Kenyon. Cub’s right though, setting the tone that Dirk can’t just walk into the lane is totally worth $25 large.

    I agree fellas, at some time though, the intent could be argued for Rondo. Kenyon was basically laughing after his blatantly purposeful extra play AFTER he had already comitted a foul.

    Damn right, Kmart is a effing…. ahhh, i can’t do it. Can’t put my heart into defending Dirk on this one. Can’t totally hate a guy who came back from microfracture knee surgery on both knees and still has his insane flamethrower confidence (AND hops)….yet. a few more of those Kenyon, and it’s zum teufel mit dir. Hehe. Go Mavs.

    Unless someone is Power-bombed into the camera men (a’la PJ Brown-Ward) or Rondo is fined or suspended, I really don’t care to see another suspension or fine passed to another player in the league. Can’t Stern-bot take care of this?

    The Hinrich/Rondo incident was ridiculous. Hinrich got swung by Rondo and bumped into the scorers table and people talk about it like Rondo drop-kicked him into the table and then decided to go and take a dump on his doorstep.

    looking at the respective rosters, i’m not sure how mavs can beat the nuggets. the mavs have no one to stop melo when he’s not in foul trouble, billups should dominate against a slow jason kidd and small Barea, while the nuggs have 2 athletic and long defenders (Kenyon and birdman) to contain Dirk. of course stranger things have happened.

    This might be a good time to point out that Reggie Evans only got fined $10,000 a few years ago for trying to rip off Chris Kaman’s nuts.
