Gasol Says Howard is Getting Too Physical

Pau would like the refs to pay a bit more attention to Dwight out there: “(Dwight Howard) is allowed to do physically a couple more things here at home,’ Gasol said after the game. Asked if those ‘things’ are too physical for his taste, or within the rules, Gasol didn’t hesitate. ‘For my taste, yes,’ Gasol said. ‘I have no control, so it’s a little bit unfortunate. There’s nothing you can do about it. You just have to play through it and continue to compete.’ Earlier, Lakers coach Phil Jackson had raised the issue of Howard’s physical play. ‘We’re obviously concerned about his physical contact out there,’ Jackson said. ‘We thought there were three or four occasions where there were offensive fouls.’”

    WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!

  • http://www.another48minutes.blogspot.com Gerard Himself

I was just happy to finally watch a game where Howard didn’t have 3 fouls in a short amount of time.

  • Roberto

Isn’t this exactly why people started calling Pau “SOFT” last finals against the Celtics?? He can push people around a little bit and its okay, but when someone starts getting physical with him he starts crying…and maybe even choking?

  • http://www.manutd.com Z

He could have phrased it better. A big saying that another big is getting too physical for his liking sounds a bit soft.

As much as I know the dude’s talent….this kind of validates what’s wrong with Team Pu*sy. If they feel pressured in anyway, it’s someone else’s fault and they can’t sack up. Please Pau, man up or get your coach to have faith in the future Hall of Fame center that sits on the bench 3/4′s of the game to take some pressure off your bit*h ass.

  • JoeMaMa

Problem – Pau fell in his wizard’s-sleeve-type vagine.
    Solution – Mbenga.

  • Royal

Dwight does lower his shoulder like 95% of the time he gets the ball but Pau should just shut up and play

hey i agree that dwight sets a lot of questionable screens. at the same time, i saw derek fisher hold dwight on all said screens last night. fisher is more of a man than pau and he’s quite older and smaller. pau – man up

  • em-k

It is whiny – Pau should just let his excellent game speak for itself.

Dwight’s shoulders aren’t the issue, his elbows are. On one play last night where Odom got called for a ridiculous non-foul, Howard sent Gasol flying with an elbow as he went up. Clear offensive foul.

But I’m really sick of players on both teams begging for calls, and I think the Lakers do it more. You just have to keep playing.

  • SandP

Funny how Phil Jackson now wants offensive fouls called when for years Shaq used to smash people with shoulders and elbows. Didn’t hear Phil crying then…

  • mj23

Pau is weak…that dude needs to hit the weight room.

    Let’s get physical… PHYSICAL…

  • sam

Should we call the wambulance for poor poor Pau?

  • http://double-technical.blogspot.com Zee!

All part of the game, won’t matter much when Pau and Co. are hoisting that Larry O’Brien trophy in a week or so.

  • http://www.hibachi20.blogspot.com BETCATS

BETCATS says that Pau is getting a bit too b!tchy. The refs let you ‘play’ so why cant Howard get equal treatment?

  • brandon

I hope Howard hears about this, and runs through Pau chest first play of the game. Man up homie!

  • http://Slamonline TADOne

Pau is a b!tch and i really wish i could run train on Eboy!!!!!

  • Marco

it’s not the lower shoulder, Royal, on every rebound D12 pushes and throw illegally pau out of the paint. He can’t do that

  • ciroqobama

    Pau has a whispering eye

  • Fat Lever

These imposters are hilarious…TAD, I always thought you had sugar in your tank, but even that’s a little too blatant…Kidding dude.

  • http://nationofmillions.ca ciolkstar

If Pau (and Stern) had their way the NBA would just be ballet with a ball and a hoop.

  • Patricia Rush

What a freakin baby Pau is, The lakers are heavy hitters too. I’m a Rockets fan, look what they did to Shane, and he went back and played, Same with Yao, he went back and played.I’m cheering on the Magic, and hope they take the fakers down. Now if we could just get Joey Crawford out, he is a dishonest ref. Go Magic

What is the Spanish words for weak and lame? ¿cuál es el español para palabras débil y cojo?

  • http://www.slamonline.com Blinguo

His flopping calls didn’t work this time.

  • http://Nicekicks.com MeloMan22

Cosign SandP: when Phil was coachin Mike i Loved him but ever since he started runnin with La (especially in his second stint) hes becoming more and more of a pansy to me

  • http://Nicekicks.com MeloMan22

and look for the Lakers to get every single call next game. It worked last series when Phil whined about calls. $25000 sounds right to win game 4

  • RKADE

Maybe he should go play in the euro league. They could flop on him. This is good for Orlando, Dwight is obviously in his head.

  • nba kid

    meloman22 is a prophet

  • Teddy-the-Bear

Wow, Dwight is physical, but he’s not DIRTY. There’s a huge difference. As for Coach Philly, see section A: Shaquille O’Neal if you want to be “concerned with physical contact”… Yeah.

  • Teddy-the-Bear

@ MeloMan: Nah, $25,000 is for regular season games! Get it right man. To get a game in the playoffs, especially the finals, you have to pay AT LEAST 50 grand. I heard Joey takes a mere 15, though. That would explain a lot about him…
Lol in all actuality though, it IS possible Dwight gets away with things in the paint. Pau could very well have a point. BUT, since its the Lakers, and because they’ve been doing this kind of stuff from jump-street, nah they shouldn’t complain.

  • http://www.lkz.ch Darksaber

Goodness me, is this Team disgusting to listen to or what? Mambiatch always wants a call when he misses a shot. Always. But to get open he elbows, hacks and pushes defenders around. Whiny Pau is a biznatch when facing a physical opponent and ALWAYS screams when taking shots. Lamar is the master of asking for calls, every drive sounds like he’s being knifed out there. I don’t believe this lame conduct from a Phil Jax team. Only guys who man up and shut up are Ariza and Farmar. The rest? Screamers. Shame.

  • Teddy-the-Bear

    Oh yeah, this is fitting:
    I MISS CHARLES OAKLEY!

  • chintao

Co-sign SandP @ Jun.10 at 2:39 pm. Also, Pau didn’t seem to have a problem when Kobe was throwing knees and elbows down in Houston. As far as Fake Jax-coached squads, whining started with Jordan. He wasn’t as bad a Kobe, but he certainly did more than his share of crying.

  • Son of Shawn

I don´t think that anybody that´s defending a player like Dwight (please man, I´m still waiting for a good move in the post and not that strange and ugly hook) so good as Pau is doing in the finals (from 25,8 ppg to 16,7) could be labeled as soft , and I prefer to bet my money in a Pau´s hook than in Dwight´s one.

  • http://www.slamonline.com/online/category/blogs/fear/ Freedom Fries

I like Pau, but have to wonder where Jax gets the balls to reiterate this whine. When Shaqtastic was bangin for Phil he was on the exact other side of this argument. Jury says, WAAAAAAAAAAA. (PS. Just wait till Bynum learns not to foul out in under 30 seconds)

  • http://Nicekicks.com MeloMan22

@ Darkstabber: what do u have against Shannon “smack down” Brown

  • Terrance

Stop calling soft fouls on Bynum and let him and Howard bang it out. That would solve all of that.

  • J.D.

    sombody go call the wambulance
