Howard: God Wants Orlando to Win Title

Dwight and the Magic will be looking for divine intervention over the next couple of weeks: ”When we run, defend and rebound, we can defeat anybody. That’s the mentality we have to take into the next series,’ Howard said from the postgame podium. ‘If we do what we can do best, we can beat anybody.’ Earlier, in the locker room, I had asked Howard to give me one or two reasons I should consider picking the Magic to defeat the Lakers. ‘God’ was his answer, which was met with the counterargument that the Lord probably has better things to worry about than who wins a basketball game, and besides, religion and politics are usually best kept out of sports stories. ‘That’s the reason, I’m telling you,’ Howard replied.”

Even though Dwight is a bit Tighter with God than Charles Was/is

oh no he didn’t this is terrible. no let me rephrase that this is ignant.

I’m not gonna start there is or there isn’t since I know evolution is a real thing. But saying God wants you to win a title? That’s when you know you’re just talking to yourself in an empty space.

Well, I bet God DOES hate Kobe Bryant, so, not far fetched…

GOD wanted Howard to bang the Magic’s cheerleader and to have a child outside marriage.

  • Great Balls O’Fire

God will use his righteous elbows to smite the evil Gasol and Andrew in the neck, face, and lower regions. Dwight and able long range hurlers will cast down the Lake Show into the bowels of hell.

    Im Not Touching these

I’m a Christian and obviously God ‘wanting’ one team to win is going a bit far. I just chalk it up to youthfulness when guys like Howard say this. Giving credit to God for victories is not a bad thing, though. I’d rather hear a guy like Howard talk about his confidence in God than some other players who think the world owes them something because they’re so wonderful.

But George Karl said that even Jesus would have a hard time guarding Kobe, so the Magic could be in trouble …

  • ravi

    Sure, Dwight…sure.

He’s on the right team–”Howard’s invisible friend used ‘Magic’ to win the title”.

  • mj23

George Bush claimed “God told me to invade Iraq”, and we all know what happened as result of that.

  • Josh D

I can just see him up their with his Magic Jersey on and with one of those giant hands

  • rav

god’s got more important things to deal with right now dwight

This is a lie, LeBron doesn’t want them to win.

“God, it’s me, Adonal. Thanks again for the G-State contract. If you let me play just one minute, I’ll crush the heathen Bryant with my trusty ball and sling.”

Actually, Dwight, I’m not %100 sure, but I think it’s the other way around.

  • http://shawn-kemps-offspring.blogspot.com/ Tariq Al Haydar

I like how people say God has other things to “worry” about.

Orlando will be the ’09 champs

  • theonr

Charles Barkley said the same thing back in ’93 (“God wants us to win the NBA championship. I spoke with him the other night”) when they met the Bulls in the finals. I think you all know what happened

  • http://www.hibachi20.blogspot.com BETCATS

God must choose the dammest things to intervine with. First creating the flood, now the NBA finals? That guy!

  • http://www.alllooksame.com Tarzan Cooper

how come nobody thanks god when they lose???? “it was a really tough loss, but thats ok cuz that was gods plan for me” you never hear that. “god wanted me to airball that 3ptr”

  • http://shawn-kemps-offspring.blogspot.com/ Tariq Al Haydar

Tarzan, actually I hear that a lot.

  • that dude

This one quote alone is almost making me root for the Lakers. And I hate the Lakers

  • BostonBaller

Don’t take everything out of context people….Tarzan, usually an true Christian will thank God win or lose and especially than Him that everyone came out healthy. I’m just say’n. I’m a real Christian and I think it’s funny when he says that b/c what if there is another Christian on the other team saying the same thing?

  • http://www.triplejunearthed.com/dacre Dacre

BostonBaller… similar to WWI, where catholic priests were blessing the tanks on either side of the battle fronts (German-vs-Britain)… If Dwight Howard actually read a bible he’d note that the obligation of a true Christian is to remain neutral to all activity related to the political states (just pay your taxes, follow the road rules and don’t kill anyone). God isn’t involved here. Satan maybe, but not the creator of heaven and earth.

  • GOD

Howard is right. doyouwantmore is wrong. Repent, you self-righteous twit.

  • aotearaw

Apparently god is solid on the low block, big moves.

    “Homer, this is God……frey Jones”.

  • Jay G

Sesa and neaorin took the words out of my mouth. If Rafer Alston play consistent basketball for the first time in a decade, we all should go to church more.

  • Clownfish

I don’t get why everyone is getting in Dwight’s face about this.

The way I see it, all he said is that he agrees God has better things to worry about. Read: No one is stopping him in the Finals.

    he means Shamgod right?
