Wade Joins James in Uncertainty

Dwyane Wade is wavering on playing for Team USA next summer, just like LeBron James. The Miami Heat guard became the second Team USA player in a week to express a degree of uncertainty on the question of playing for the United States at the 2010 world championship in Turkey.

“I’m in-between,” Wade told ESPN.com. “I mean, you know of course I want to be a part of the experience with most of the guys coming back, but I have to wait to see how this season goes before I can go forward with what I’m going to do this summer.”

If just Wade and LeBron drop out, Team USA will still be ok, but if it causes a domino effect and we head into Turkey with, I don’t know, Shane Battier as our best player, then Bronze here we come all over again.

“There’s no greater honor than playing for your country, unless it’s only for a world championship, in which case who cares? I’ve got commercials to film.”

team U.S.A might be better without these two guys(especially Bron).

  • I am the walrus

@Panag… No they would be WORSE without DWade and LeBron…

  • Kas

I think they would be better of without LeBron, but they “need” Wade

  • Omnixyience (Philippines)

I think team USA is better without those two…

    remember 06 Olympics?
    duh !

for me it’s ok if they don’t play, as long
as KOBE’s playing it’ll be alright..

also D-Howard and CP3 as well as Carmelo
    it’s not a problem!

  • Ken

Yes, I remember the 06 Olympics. But there’s no basketball at the winter games.

How can they be better without Bron and/or Wade? That’s just plain stupid to think even worse to take the time to type it. I still think the US can/will win without them, just like the orig. dream team could have won without Jordan, but that doesn’t mean they would have been better without him.

I understand people like to hate on Bron/Wade/Kobe/Melo and whomever else. But just hate on the player and respect thier game!

they’ll find someone else. team usa cant be that bad right?

  • will

If they lose just one of them, it might not be as bad because there are guys like Durant, Granger and Rose who can fill certain gaps with fresh legs. But losing both doesn’t sound too thrilling to me, especially with Kobe getting older.

  • UnRel

as long as they build a good team team USA will be alright with whoever… not just a bunch of big names that look good on paper.. without bron and wade.. you can always replace them with b.roy and eddy curry’s extra weight..

@6marjons. Constantine the Great’s ghost would like to have a word with you.

In the international game, i have no problem starting Carmelo/Kevin Durant and Brandon Roy/Derron Williams in their place.

  • thalilbigkahuna

How would team USA be better off without them? Granted, there are others who could fill in, but I don’t see any advantage to NOT having two of the best players in the world right now.

  • Flash

both of them are all around type of player plus they’re so good that they scare/intimidate opponents… so its defntley gonna hurt losing them. opposing teams would rather see durant, rose rather than lebron and wade!

  • Player

I hope both Wade and LeBron play next year. They were two of our top three players last year (along with Kobe). It would definitely hurt not to have them on the team.

    My ideal 2010 Team USA:
    PG-Chris Paul, Deron Williams
SG-Kobe Bryant, Dwyane Wade, Brandon Roy
SF-LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Danny Granger
    PF-Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh
    C- Dwight Howard, Amare Stoudemire

If Wade and LeBron don’t play, I would probably replace them with Derrick Rose and Brook Lopez

  • Player

The team would then look something like this:
PG-Chris Paul, Deron Williams, Derrick Rose
    SG-Kobe Bryant, Brandon Roy
SF-Carmelo Anthony, Kevin Durant, Danny Granger
    PF-Chris Bosh, Amare Stoudemire
    C-Dwight Howard, Brook Lopez
