David Lee to take AI’s spot in ASG; Kidd to take Kobe’s

Word’s come down that David Lee will replace Allen Iverson, who has missed the five straight games while tending to his ill daughter. Averaging a double-double, David Lee had planned to be in Texas this weekend anyway to attend a friend’s wedding. Now he’ll have what else to do while down in the Lone Star. On the Western front, a banged up Kobe Bryant will be replaced by Jason Kidd. This will be the first All-Star game since 1996-97, their rookie seasons, where neither Bryant nor Iverson will participate in the Sunday night spectacle.

    That ball hog argument is probably the most annoying excuse in existence. Its a cop out because you can’t actually justify why a player of Monta Ellis’ caliber is possibly being snubbed. Basketball is a TEAM game and the Warriors really do not have a TEAM that can compete. They have a tonne of great players but they’re all freaking guards and Andris Biedrins is getting screwed over by Donnie.
    It amuses me when people call players like Monta Ellis ball hogs, when they’re the best player on the team, leading in both points AND assists. Funny.

    Kidd? What about Kaman, Ellis, Westbrook, Gay, Boozer, Parker, Evans, Brooks, Marc Gasol, Mayo… Heck, I’d take Jason Terry over Kidd for all-star this year. This is like when Dale Davis was selected. If Rose is out then Josh Smith or Captain Jack should be in. JJ has to start for the east. Start Dirk at Kobe’s spot for the west, heck, it’s an all-star game, and it’s in Dallas, why not? He is a 7-foot 2 guard isn’t he?

    Ellis is currently injured. Should Stern name a player who is not going to play so that he will immediately have to name a replacement?
    But, I do agree Westbrook, Evans, and Brooks would have been much better selections for this season.

    14.4-2.7-4.2-0.6 on 45/36/80 shooting with 2.4 turnovers compared to 9.3-5.1-9.3-1.8 on 43/41/80 with 2.4 turnovers?
    Sorry, I’ll take the guy who gives you more rebounds, assists, and defense.
    And of course the majority of western starters deserved it over Kidd. That goes without saying. I just don’t get why I was told not to outrage over T-Mac and Iverson getting picked on the all-star game because of stupid fans, but EVERYONE has the right to scream and moan over Kidd getting picked because of a stupid commissioner.

    Hmm, as a Mavs fan, so happy to see a 2nd Player on the Roster, and even though Ason keeps chugging along like an antique steam train, delivering the goods in the process, i don’t get his selection. JET Terry is the only other Maverick who could be mistaken for an allstar this season. But Westbrook, (OKC is 5th… In the WEST) or Landry/Brooks would have been a more deserving selection.

    This outrage is simply stupid. David Stern obviously is following the same “all star selection methods” of the coaches. He is picking a player from a winning team instead of giving it to a borderline player on a losing team. The kings have been absolutely horrendous lately, some of the players have even complained about Tyreke Evans being a ball hog. So he doesn’t deserve it. Westbrook is a joke right? you people think russell westbrook deserves a spot over kidd because of what? Because he averages 15, 7, 5. w/ 3 turnovers on 40% from the field and 25% from the 3? Those are not all-star numbers, those are athletic guard without competition at his position numbers. Jason Kidd is not putting up amazing stats but dude is getting an assist (or his team is scoring a bucket) on about 75% of his possessions!!! Aaron Brooks is the only other guard in the West that should get the spot over kidd. Unless you want to give it to Tony Parker but really he hasn’t been effective enough. No PG outside of the current all star selections puts his team in a better position to win then jason kidd. Ill take that over 20+PPG ANYDAY

    David Lee getting pulled up in the east is a whole different ball of wax, simply because the east only has 5 or 6 teams over .500 – you can’t have an all star roster from just 6 teams

    check all the players in the L averaging 20 5 and 5. You gotta give the nod to the rookie whose team is bad but you take evans off the kings and they would be right there with the nyets

    KG shouldn’t have been starting… David Lee’s numbers destroy his, and has played a FULL season. And Josh Smith as well… the all-stars were a joke this year. How did Al Horford get in? We realize the fans don’t know sh!t about basketball since they voted in (AI, KG) and even Duncan over Dirk last minute(even though he’s had a better year, his team has been better until recently, and it’s in freaking Dallas. Jason Kidd though? The Rockets deserved one guy(Brooks or Landry.) Yes, KG hasn’t deserved to be a starter or all-star period for two seasons. Last year, 15.8 and 8.5, this season, about 14 and 7. Shocked Ray Allen wasn’t voted in with his one double double in his past 3 seasons.
