David Lee to take AI’s spot in ASG; Kidd to take Kobe’s

Word’s come down that David Lee will replace Allen Iverson, who has missed the five straight games while tending to his ill daughter. Averaging a double-double, David Lee had planned to be in Texas this weekend anyway to attend a friend’s wedding. Now he’ll have what else to do while down in the Lone Star. On the Western front, a banged up Kobe Bryant will be replaced by Jason Kidd. This will be the first All-Star game since 1996-97, their rookie seasons, where neither Bryant nor Iverson will participate in the Sunday night spectacle.

    Kidds my favorite player but i hate the Mavs. And I never heard him in the All-Star conversation ANYWHERE so its really surprising to see him picked. nonetheless he’ll make the game more exciting with his plays.

    Kidd is not an all star, Monta is a ball hog and hurts his team performance, by not passing and trying to get scoring marks. The best choice would have been Aaron Brooks, NUFF SAID!!!

    Wow, this is going to be the worst allstar game in a while. Why on gods green earth would they put David Lee in over Vince Carter? I dont care if vince is averaging 3 ppg you still put him in the game, he puts on a show!

    D.Lee for AI is good, Josh Smith should have been chosen instead of Horford.. the Jason Kidd choice was a hometown decision, Monta could have been a better choice.. but Kidd ain’t that bad…

    WTF! KIDD is averaging 9 ppg and shooting 42 percent. All-Star? more like Politics just because hes been a class act his whole career and the game is in Dallas. Monta deserves it. VC is shooting 39 percent and averagin 16 ppg. Stephen Jackson should replace D-Rose. Worst ASG ever coming up.

    Jeez guys…Monta will get his someday…yea he nice and all. But Billups and Kidd? How can you say they dont belong? Being in THIS game in THIS league means u demand respect every time u step on the floor…not just “okay u havin a good year, we should just let you in”. Its not all about stats. David Lee deserves it cuz he plays with crazy Heart…being a 6’9″ center and coming to play every night even tho his team sucks. Not sayin Monta doesn’t, but Jason Kidd’s name is synonymous with All Star…no?

    Great for David Lee it’s nice to see him get some hype, and as for Kidd. He’s the kinda player that isn’t going to be searching for his own shot. Many times all star games get sloppy but J Kidd knows how to get horses up and down the floor while putting passes on point. If he was good enough for the Olympic team at this stage of his career he’s good enough to play all star pick up in his back yard. In a game where the floor is packed with gunners it seems pretty smart to put the #2 guy all time in assist on the squad.

    @ guti…yea i feel you but J Kidd holds it down still. If Monta Ellis got in over Kidd I wouldnt have been suprised tho. Its going to be tough for him as long as Nash is around, with CP3 and Deron…plus with Tyreke coming up. Monta’s like THIS close..

    i like the jason kidd selection. the mavs are no 3 in the west, and he is the engine of that team. kidd will make the game so much better, im betting 3 oops to amare. hard to believe josh smith didnt make it. monta? the warriors are trash

    The warriors may very well be the worst team of all time but that does not affect monta’s status as an all star.

    J-Smoove deserved it too, thats truth…but they cant send 3 hawks. And the east needs a backup center. I woulda went with David Lee instead of Horford in the 1st place though. J-Smoove def deserves to be in…he brings the Hawks, and the league, another element.

    Maybe they should just let BETcats name the all-stars. I swear that would be a better way of determining sh*t. Stern must think it’s 1997.

    Josh Smith should have been chosen instead of Al Horford in the first place. I’m biased towards David Lee as I’m a Knicks fan. I was pulling for him to make it as a coaches’ pick, but I understood when the coaches picked a Hawk. When the numbers are similar, go with the guy on the winning team. As far as Kidd being picked, his game is designed for this type of environment. Surround Kidd with shooters and finishers, and he’s awesome to watch. Having Kidd on the floor will make this a very enjoyable game to watch.

    JKIDD? I mean I know it’s in Dallas and all but come on. I would take Evans, Westbrook or Brooks before him this season. With no Kobe and no BROY, the West has no shooting guards and only four guards total. I think we will be seeing a lot of D. Williams or K. Durant at the 2.

    I mean , Jason Kidd is pretty much averaging a double-double on a top team in the West, can’t ignore that fact. Hard to argue against that.

    @Jukai: Iverson’s terrible stats were better than J-Kidd’s and he did it with way less. Iverson was voted in Jason Kidd was chosen and I have been saying AI didn’t deserve it which is obvious but he got voted in by the fans and J-Kidd got picked by Stern over Monta who was way more deserving.
