Free Haircuts to All Kids in NYC

Our friends at the All Barbers League want to send youngins back to school looking fresh as they give free hair cuts to all kids in the New York City area this Sunday, September 5th, from noon to 8PM at Matrix Cuts, located in 314 West 36th Street. Free food for all will be available throughout the day. In addition, all kids qualify to compete in the PS3 Madden NFL 2011 Tournament, with the winner taking home a Nintendo Wii. Other giveaways are in stored to be  distributed as well. The All Barbers League hosts its annual 3-on-3 charity game during the winter. The purpose of the tournament is to raise money for local at-risk youth serving agencies, including Safe Space NYC, Inc., to promote knowledge as to the challenges facing our young people, and to begin to develop a dialogue between local agencies and community members as to how to assist our young people with achieving personal and professional success.

    I remember when I was one of the premier barbers in my area.
    Many good times.
    Many parties.
    Much adulation from the area masses.

    “assist our young people with achieving personal and professional success. ”
    By getting haircuts.
    Is this 1953?

    This sounds great! Like actually, it’s a great promotional campaign and a charity tournament is always cool.

    Great stuff. @Dave. At least they’re doing something for the community.

    Well, that’s certainly the impression they’d like you to take away with you, but I have no idea what “assist our young people with achieving personal and professional success” actually means. Maybe it is just haircuts?

    @Dave:
    Some barbershops actually play a major role in the development of character, etiquette, and common sense amongst youngsters in their communities.
    Particularly in the inner cities.
    Some barbershops sponsor community events involving youth development, whether it be in athletics or in education.
    But as far as “assisting our young people”…
    chances are that they are merely reiterating the importance of education, while instilling the confidence into the kids that only a good FREE haircut can give.

    Don’t be a dildo Dave, read the last paragraph again. All of it. Starting with the words “The purpose of the tournament”… Good show I say.
