A Killer New Series

SLAM friend’s new web TV project hits the Net.

Billy Fox, former SLAM copy editor, occasional SLAM freelancer and long-time friend of SLAM Ed Ben Osborne has a new webtv series, Rhyme Animal, that was covered on our sister site, xxlmag.com, last week: http://www.xxlmag.com/online/?p=96300. Rhyme Animal

Here’s some more info, straight from Billy himself:

Quick! What do SLAM and serial killers have in common?

Cue dead silence.

That’s right: Not a damn thing. But hip hop and hoops do connect, so maybe it’s not too far-fetched to tout Rhyme Animal, the story of an ambitious DJ riding the coattails of a brilliant MC… who just might be a serial killer.

This seven-part series is online now at the web TV network Koldcast.tv. Rhyme Animal stars Al Thompson, who you may have caught in A Season on the Brink: A Year With Bob Knight and the Indiana Hoosiers and Craig “muMs” Grant (best known as Poet in the HBO series OZ). Rhyme Animal is a unique hybrid of film, animation, and hip hop beats, worthy of Dexter and The Wire.

For more info, be sure to hit www.Koldcast.tv. It’s killer!

gotta say, that sounds amazingly corny.

I love Dexter and The Wire, so I might have to check this out.

Ben….any chance you can post that story on the web that you did a few years back on hoops in prison?? That was a dope piece!

    Nice idea, but…
I just watched 2 episodes and I CAN’T BELIEVE YOU SPOKE OF IT IN THE SAME BREATH AS DEXTER. Horrible…just horrible!

muMs!!! Oz is one of my favorite shows ever, up there with The Wire as two of the best shows to ever hit HBO, and just television in general.
This might be a good series but I don’t see what it has to do with The Wire and Dexter. But that’s okay, good luck with it.

    Is it about Big Lurch?

Interesting concept. There are only two short episodes so far. I wanna see where this goes when they post more. Also, i gotta say i love the mix of animation with the dark live action. interesting indeed.

Yo Lechter (great name!) I agree with you on the animation. Adds some nice flavor to the series.

Nice to see mums back in another edgy role, and I look forward to seeing more installments.
