Allen Iverson’s Game Will Air on TV Today

Some may not want to watch Bubba Chuck play in Turkey. For those who do want to see how he’s doing over there, NBA TV has you covered later today. An NBA press release says it all: “NBA TV announced today that it will televise Sunday’s game featuring 11-time NBA All-Star Allen Iverson and his Turkish team Besiktas Cola Turka of the Beko Turkish Basketball League against the defending TBL champion Fenerbahce Ulker from Istanbul, Turkey. This TBL game will air on NBA TV beginning at 3:30 p.m. (ET) with Rick Kamla and Chris Webber calling the contest.”

Hey, don’t offer him contracts but profit from his popularity. Way to go, cronies of Darth Stern.
PS: can’t wait to hear C-Webb pronounce the turkish names. Too bad i’m not staying up (3.30am here) for some turkish league game, AI or not.

And I thought Iverson looked weird and out of place in a Nuggest uniform…or a Grizzlies uni…or Pistons.

  • The Philosopher

    Stern is The G.O.A.T.
I love when he gets shrewd.

Look, it’s not like Stern told all the owners and GMs “don’t sign up Iverson.” I don’t think the Commish has that kind of influence to begin with….or am I just being naive?

  • AT33

can you watch it with nba league pass?

  • The Philosopher

Stern is among the most influential men in the world.

  • Hammer

Co-sign ish. As in the wise words of method man, Cash Rules Everything Around Me. That’s the L’s motivation 2 do this

    I’m with you Zabba.

  • tavoris

Zabba-Stern didn’t say “don’t sign him”, but he’s been trying to minimize Iverson’s cultural influence on the NBA since 1996.

  • tavoris

@AT33…the game is gonna be on NBATV…you shouldn’t have a prob catching it

  • max

stern being among the most influential men in the world was a joke, right?

  • Harry

The game already happened and he scored 2 points. Washed up !!!! He sat on the bench for like most the game.

Makes me so sad to see AI play in Turkey, none of the 30 NBA teams even contacted him! Its such a loss and shame…

I think he’s an alien between all those other players in his new club, it just does not look right to me. Man, I wish I was Stern, I definitely would respect his fashion.
Even if AI would have an attitude, he still fills arenas l, right?!

Bring AI back to the NBA b4 its too late!

i watched the entire game. he didn’t play well and didn’t play the 2nd and the 4th quarters. but you should see the game just for the great Besiktas fans. they are the best in the world.

Idiots. There’s a reason no-one wanted this guy.

And co-sign Zabba. He made his bed, now sleep in it.

  • http://ohlaglambam.blogspot.com Zabba

What is stopping an owner from going to the media and saying “hey, I wanted Iverson badly but Sternbot made it clear I can’t.” Really, what’s stopping him? He’ll lose ownership? He’ll get blackballed? Even if Stern and 29 other owners didn’t want Iverson to play, what’s stopping that last majority owner from going to the public and letting them know? Doesn’t add up, this wacky Stern-dictator theory.

    You mean A.J. Ogilvy’s game.

You don’t want to sign him to the Nba, but you want to show him in europe. That’s just wrong. Anyways, how the heck Iverson managed to score only 2 points?

  • rikson

Actually I could imagine stern sending AI to europe bc of marketing reasons… Ya know, send an advertising “puppet” to europe to warm up the oven before the main meal gets cooked! NBA europe, anyone…?!
