Friday is one of the biggest days of the year for a lot of teams — the day the first semester officially ends. Why that’s important is that many teams across the country will be adding players that were ineligible for the first semester due to violations and transfers.
The biggest addition to any team will be Josh Selby to Kansas. The freshman point guard missed the season’s first nine games due to NCAA violations, but he will finally take the floor on Saturday when the Jayhawks face USC.
Selby, a scoring point guard with a knack for getting into the lane, could be the final piece that makes Kansas a national title team. The Jayhawks have been doing fine with Tyshawn Taylor running the show, but Selby’s game has the potential to take the team to even greater levels.
Initially, though, Selby appears like he’ll have to come off the bench and work his way into the starting lineup.

“He’s getting all the reps with the first group,” Kansas coach Bill Self said. “I don’t think I’m going to start him, even though I know I haven’t made a decision positively. I don’t think I will, because he’s got to beat somebody out. He needs to perform well in the games and not just practice.”
With six games left before conference play begins, the Jayhawks have the luxury of still being able to figure out their rotation before they take on the Big 12. If Selby’s intergration is a smooth one, Kansas might have the deepest, if not the most talented, team in the country.
