Texas Ends Kansas’ Home Win Streak, Unbeaten Record

Texas snapped Kansas’ home win streak at 69 games and ended its 18-0 unbeaten start with a shocking 74-63 victory. The Longhorns trailed by 12 points at the half but outscored the Jayhawks 51-28 over the final 20 minutes.
Doing most of the damage was sophomore J’Covan Brown. He came off the bench to put up a season-high 23 points. Brown has quickly earned the reputation of stepping up his game against Kansas. His career-high was a 28-point performance against the Jayhawks last season.
Brown was one of those players who never lost confidence despite the large halftime deficit.
From The Dallas Morning News:
“Coach talked to us at halftime and told us that we have to execute plays,” said Brown, who was 6 for 10 from the field and 8 for 10 from the foul line. “We were down early but we knew we had to keep playing. We just had to stay together and not break as a team.”
Kansas’ loss means only two unbeaten teams remain: Ohio State and San Diego State. The Azetcs will face a tough test on Wednesday when they travel to BYU to take on the Cougars and Jimmer Fredette. As for the Buckeyes, they will host Purdue on Tuesday.
Duke now holds the honor of longest home winning streak with 30 consecutive wins. However, Villanova has the most consecutive wins at one venue with 45 at it’s on campus home, the Pavilion. The Wildcats, though, have lost home games at the Wells Fargo Center during that time.
