DePaul Ends 3-Year Big East Road Losing Streak

Over the last few seasons DePaul has gotten very little press from SLAM, but Thursday night was an event three years in the making, and it is time put them back on our radar. The Blue Demons defeated Providence 79-76, giving them their first Big East win in over a year and their first Big East road victory since 2008.
DePaul, who’s last Big East road victory came on March 6, 2008, against Cincinnati, ended a 12-game losing streak, 25-game Big East losing streak and 29-game road losing streak on Thursday.
Against Providence, the Blue Demons got a career-high 23 points from junior guard Jeremiah Kelly, who celebrated only his fifth road win in his DePaul career. Kelly’s two free throws at the end of the game sealed the deal for the Blue Demons.
The locker room was ecstatic after the victory.
From the Chicago Sun-Times:
“It’s a party in there,” said Kelly said, who came off the bench to score 23 points. “We worked so hard, we’ve been pushing, fighting, fighting. We finally got one, and not only did we get one, but we got one on the road.”
