Faried Becomes NCAA’s All-Time Leading Rebounder
by David Cassilo / @dcassilo
Move over Tim Duncan! The NCAA’s all-time leading rebounder is now Kenneth Faried after he hauled in 12 rebounds on Saturday to bring his career total to 1,576.
Duncan was just six rebounds ahead of Faried entering the game, making it a mere formality that the record would be broken on Saturday since Faried has had at least seven rebounds in every game this season. While it’s unclear whether Faried really is the greatest rebounder in NCAA history (the stat has only been kept since 1973), he is the only one with the record next to his name.
It is yet another honor for Faried, who is wrapping up one of the best seasons in the country this year and one of the best careers in NCAA history.
From The Globe and Mail:
The six-foot-eight senior, who also scored 17 points in Morehead State’s ninth straight victory, now has 1,576 rebounds, six more than Duncan collected at Wake Forest from 1994-97.
“He was a great college player. He’s a great NBA player, all the MVPs, all the all-star appearances,” Faried told The Associated Press in a telephone interview. “I really can’t explain how excited I am about it.”
As for Faried’s team, Morehead State continued its strong play by defeating Indiana State 71-65 on Saturday for its ninth win in a row. Along with the 12 rebounds Faried pulled down, he also scored 17 points. Entering the game Faried was averaging 17.5 ppg and a nation’s best 14.3 rpg.

stupid people. SNAG this guy in the top 25 otherwise someone loses their job. If a class player like this guy gets taken by the Lakers or Heat or Spurs with a late first round pick you just have to know, that GMs don’t know how to do their job…or scouts for that matter.
on a serious note cosign dacre, farried ain’t got much potential and most probably won’t get in the lottery but will be a great addition to a contender because he basically is a ready made player who if he continues to be dedicated will be a decent energy/defense guy in this league
