Purdue Lands Highly Touted Forward

Basil Smotherman Jr., one of the top ranked small forwards in the class of 2013, verbally committed to Purdue on Wednesday after receiving offers from Indiana, Illinois, Notre Dame, and Xavier. The 6-5 sophomore wing of Indianapolis Heritage Christian has been averaging 14.5 points and five rebounds per game. The Boilermakers already have two commits for the 2013 class in 6-4 shooting guard Kendall Stephens of St. Charles East and 6-1 point guard Bryson Scott of Fort Wayne Northrop.
