Stern Names Kevin Love All-Star Reserve

This may be the first of many All-Star selections for Kevin Love. And, hopefully, it won’t take an injury to get him on the team next time. “Timberwolves forward Kevin Love received a hug and a playful headlock from his coach and an All-Star Game invitation from his commissioner 38 minutes before his team’s 111-100 loss at Toronto on Friday night. Snubbed on Thursday in the Western Conference coaches’ voting for the game’s seven reserve spots, Love was rewarded on Friday by David Stern, who chose him to replace injured Houston center Yao Ming. ‘I was totally shocked, I had absolutely no idea,’ Love said. ‘I’m truly humbled. I’m truly blessed. It’s a goal of mine my whole life, and I’ve reached it. I was very happy.’”

HELL YEAHH, ASG needs more white people!

The question now is… Who will coach popovic start at center?

Fully derserved. gp23, Popovic I have feeling it will be Duncan just cause he plays with him on the same team. It should probably be Gasol though.
On another note, it would be funny if Popovic benched Duncan for the whole game to prevent him from getting injured. LOL

    Steve Nash…………………………………………..

  • http://slamonline BossTerry

Steve Nash deserves to be an all star, and I was really pulling for Aldridge instead of Love, congrats anyway, kinda have a feeling this all star weekend is gonna blow. Griff will win mvp of the rook/soph game, and win the dunk contest, while the Heat/Celtics beat the West.

Who will finish the game for either team? I have Rose, Wade, Bron, Garnett, Howard for the East.
Paul, Kobe, Durant, Blake, Duncan for the West.

  • Jer dawg

Guys who play hard, are productive, and respect the game deserve to be all stars. Kevin Love is VERY deserving. For those who didn’t make it work hard and be glad you get to rest that weekend.

  • Andrew

Clearly deserves to be in. And Boss Terry, Griffin won’t play in the rookie game since he’s been selected to play in the ASG.

    Andre Miller:
    Kevin Love’s
    no All-Star

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

He was my pick for sure, but it’s tough… Aldridge, Randolph, and Ellis are three HUGE All-Star snubs this season.

I think the NBA should get rid of the 3point shoot-out, and the skills challenge, and have a “up and coming” game for young guys who potentially could be pretty good.
Have guys like Nick Young,Demarcus Cousins, Nicholas Batium, Jrue Holiday,D.Blair,Thebeat, etc. etc.

I don’t think most of us appreciate how loaded the NBA is with talent right now. Steve Nash doesn’t make it and his stats are similar to when he won MVP.
