Ryan Harrow to Transfer from N.C. State

by David Cassilo / @dcassilo

Sidney Lowe was able to lure prized recruit Ryan Harrow to North Carolina State this past fall, but as Lowe now looks for work elsewhere, Harrow is also looking for a new school, as he decided to transfer after just one season with the Wolfpack.

Harrow, a consensus top-20 recruit last season, is a point guard hailing from Marietta, Georgia. In his freshman season he averaged 9.3 ppg and 3.3 apg.

With the arrival of new head coach Mark Gottfried, Harrow has decided to start exploring other places to continue his college career.

From the News & Observer:

Harrow said he had to make an “individual decision” that was best for his future and it had “nothing to do with the new coaches.” The Marietta, Ga., native said one of his options would be transferring to the University of Georgia.

“I stayed loyal to N.C. State for two years when I committed,” Harrow said. “After this year, I actually want to have a recruiting process and see what other schools have to offer.”

There have been additional reports that Harrow was visiting Kentucky yesterday. However, Harrow dismissed those reports later in the day and said that he is not sure what schools he plans to look at it. The 6-1 guard will have to sit out all of next season.

I had pretty high hopes for harrow after watching him in high school. He must really want out of NC state if he’s willing to sit out an entire season just to transfer. Thought he and CJ leslie would be a great combo coming in as freshmen.

I was a little dissapointed that Sidney Lowe kinda…lets be honest just quit on these young men, but hey he’s a man with a life of his own. But hey…see why not come back home Ryan??!!! Tech needs another great PG desperately…bring your boy Lorenzo with you if you can lol

I’m not actually surprised by this. I thought he would have a better freshman season at N.C. State though. I thought he would would have been a great freshman leader for them. Best of luck to him and he was definitely underrated while in high school.
