Ashton Gibbs Returning to Pitt for Senior Year

Pittsburgh guard Ashton Gibbs will return for his senior season at the University of Pittsburgh and will not enter the NBA Draft.

Gibbs, a 6-2 point guard from Scotch Plains, N.J., led the Pitt Panthers in scoring last season with 16.8 points a game and to a regular season title in arguably the most competitive league in college hoops, the Big East.

Gibbs has outstanding shooting ability and a work ethic that will serve his Pitt squad well in his senior year. With a Pitt team that just lost three major senior starters—7-0 defensive standout Gary McGhee, the high-flying Gilbert Brown and shooting guard/stat sheet filler Brad Wannamaker—Gibbs will need to evolve his game from big-time scorer to facilitator under Jamie Dixon’s Pitt Panthers.

good decision!! I want him to really take over this team next year. The great thing about Jamie Dixon is all of his teams play true team basketball and no one is above it, but everything I’ve seen from this kid tells me he’s got to take more shots and control the ball more. I’m rooting for him

Smart decision by him its a win-win.he can improve pg skills and pitt gets its leadering scorer back.unless your gonna be a first rounder, plan to play on d league or want to play overseas there’s no reason to leave early.

Juniors should almost always stay, unless their names are Michael Jordan. That degree is magnificent.

If only he could’ve convinced fellow NJ native Kyrie Irving to stay in school.
