Just Cuz: Anything

90s Hip Hop > All Else

All you young guns out there may not remember this song but it’s one of the many that have given basketball soundtracks a great reputation in the hip hop world. Above the Rim is one of the all-time great basketball movies and the soundtrack was right there with it. Start your Friday afternoon off right with some SWV Feat. Wu-Tang.

That was my favorite movie when I was a shorty.
RIP Flip and Birdie (Bernie Mac and 2Pac)

Dope movie. Pac was 1 of the few rap artists who could actually act. “Gang Related” is my fav Pac movie. Followed by “Juice”, “Above The Rim”, and, yes, “Poetic Justice”. Which begs the question: Which is the best gangster movie (not mafia)? I think its “Boys N Tha Hood” but “Menace 2 Society” comes very very close as well. “Mi Vida Loca” is underrated as hell

@HAMMER: Don’t forget about Gridlock’d, great Pac flick with Tim Roth. One of my favorite hood flicks was Strapped, although I think it was a TV movie on HBO or something

Avon Barksdale was Birdie’s lieutenant. He then went on to run Baltimore. Now he runs Jessep County.

My favorite hood gangster flick has to be “Paid in Full” or “Menace II Society.” Boyz N tha Hood too, depending on the mood I’m in.
Anybody seen “Dead Presidents” by the Hughes Brothers?

Ohhhh sh!t, I almost forgot. Add “Fresh” to your list of greatest films set in the hood. It might be the best, actually.

@ Teddy. “Im at where im at and I be where I be”. Haha! Haven’t see n “Fresh” n a long, long time. No doubt its a nice one.

Also “Set it off” w/Jada Pinkett, Queen Latifa and Vivica A. Fox has always been a favorite.

  • DETOX83

    Co sign “paid in full”

  • DETOX83

“pour out a liitle liquor” was may favorite off that soundtrack. Dogg Pound has a nice one on there to. I forgot what it was called.

All of those movies are good. I like both Boyz in tha hood and Menace 2 society. Menace is more raw, Boyz in tha hood focused more on real life issues
