Kobe Bryant ‘Open’ to Playing Overseas?

Deron Williams’ Turkish squad will make a hard push to sign Kobe during the NBA’s lockout, but would the Lakers’ superstar truly be willing to risk injury playing overseas, and what of that so-called barnstorming tour in China? According to Yahoo! Sports, Bryant is nevertheless intrigued by the idea: “Kobe Bryant is open to considering overseas offers for the duration of NBA lockout, sources familiar with his thinking tell Y! Sports.”

“Open to considering”. Well, as much as I’m for him playing basketball for the world to see, this is not-a-definite-no, but not much more.

Rest your legs 24, rest your legs and keep them fresh for the trophy that matters.

Kobe and the Lakers reign is over for now. They better hope they can somehow get a Dwight-Westbrook combo in a couple years.

kobe will definitely not play overseas but it does add a little more pressure to the owners if one of the leagues biggest stars is considering to play elsewhere

I don’t see why nobody gives it chance, he grew up overseas and he ain’t gettin any younger! Plus it could be a great opportunity to bond with D-Will and convince him to sign with the Lakers after the lockout!

  • http://slamonline.com Ugh

holiday is talking some sense there.
And what’s with this “risk getting injured” business? Playing 1/3rd as many games a year with less travel is suddenly a bigger risk of injury than in the NBA?

@ holiday why the hell does he need to bond with D-will for. the lakers dont have money to sign d-will and howard. and they will definitely pick howard over him if they have a chance to choose. Second point, espn was talking about the players could loose their guaranteed NBA money if they get injured playing overseas. kobe is one of the highest paid players. i dont think its worth it in his case. he doesnt have nothing to prove to the world. his jersey sale is all ready number one, thats a good sign that everyone likes him.

Yeah I guess the fact that Derons new boss is only like 152 I think on the worlds richest list, no competition there. Gee wonder why Kobe took Raja Bell on a flight tryin to convince him to sign with LA last year, its called strategy… by the way Kobe, one of the most competitive people in the world has nothing to prove and that’s stopped him before right? I’m sure every player on the back end of there career is tryin to waste one of the few years they have left!
