I’m cooler than a Polar Bear’s toenails

I was mad the Rick verse wasn’t on the actual album. Had me heated.
Outkast, the best hip-hop duo to ever do it PERIOD
KAST IS DOPE. BIGFUTURELG, UGK HAS A CLAIM ON THAT.
Although my favorite group is Tribe, I’d say BlackStar is the illest lyrical duo ever. Who’s messing with Mos and Kweli??!!
True I got more fans than the average man but not enough loot to last me, to the end of the week, I live by the beat, like you live check-to-check, if you don’t move yo feet, then I don’t eat, so we like neck-to-neck, yes we done came a long way like them Slim ass cigarettes, from Virginia, this aint gone stop, so we just gone continue…3 Stacks is that dude, man!
What’s cooler than being cool? ICE COLD!!!
I agree that Outkast is the best. But it’s all subjective.
Oukast has to be the best hip-hop duo ever. No other duo sold as much as they did…while still connecting to the underground and the masses.
The best duo of alltime is the Hot Boyz. I just don’t see how someone could beat Juve, Turk, Wayne, BG along with the hottest producer at that time; Mannie Fresh, on the beat.
Greatest. Hip. Hop. Group. Ever.
ATL all day.
Anybody care to explain to JTaylor what a “duo” is?
What I meant was best group of alltime. The best duo tag goes to 8Ball & MJG.
Nah, he can’t count
The best group of all-time is not the Hot Boyz and I’m ashamed that you wrote that as a fellow New Orleanian.
And Outkast murders 8-Ball and MJG. As do UGK.
“Its like that now/You better go on and the hump up out your back now/Its about 4 or 5 cats up in my ‘Lac now/We just shoot game in the form of story raps now/Its like that now, its like that now”
I got MAD love for Outkast.
But as for greatest duo ever, I’d have to give it to Run-DMC. I know technically they were a trio with Jam Master Jay (RIP), but Run and DMC were the best rapping duo to ever do it.
After them I have Tribe Called Quest’s Phife and Q-Tip. Again, technically a trio, but only two of them rapped.
Outkast is up there too obviously, but Andre 3000 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Big Boi.
And Hot Boyz were garbage. Sorry.
I’ve found out that its really hard, and almost pointless, 2 rank hip-hop duos. There r so many and all r gr8 n their own form. And it also depends on who u ask. For me, I take Mobb Deep over any duo any day. Does that make them the best? No. But 2 me, they r. I am surprised tho no1 has mentioned EPMD. They certainly n the discussion, n my opinion.
to me.. outkast is the greatest duo ever.. every other duo mentioned, run dmc/tribe/epmd/mobb.. have all plateaued in their careers.. only outkast has collected newer fans as they’ve grown while still maintaining their older following..
the hot boyz are no the best group of all time.. i’d take wu-tang and nwa over them..
The Hot Boyz sucked. The best group is probably the Wu-Tang Clan. Most of their members’ lyricism(i.e. GZA, Method Man,Inspectah Deck,Raekwon)is so crafty and good. Best Hip-Hop duo is definitely Outkast. Outkast is probably the best thing to ever come from the south next to Scarface and UGK.
Damn, can a brother have his own opinion?
Sheeeeeeit, half of y’all probably never listened to an outkast CD and are on here claiming they are the best just because half man half deity AllenP said so.
ID LIKE TO MENTION ERIC B AND RAKIM
@JTaylor – of course everyone can have an opinion. You think Hot Boyz are the greatest group ever. I think they suck. See, we both have opinions.
Oh snap, I forgot about Mobb Deep! They used to be my favorite dou.
Juvenile Hell – dope. Infamous – classic. Hell on Earth – classic. Murda Muzik – dope. but then they went downhill after that.
@unrel – you can’t compare Outkast to Run-DMC in their PRESENT states. That’s really not fair.
Run-DMC released their first album in 1984, Outkast in 1994.
Run-DMC’s last album was in 2001, and before that in 1993. Of course they’re not gonna add new fans at the same level as Outkast will.
@UNFROZEN CAVEMAN LAWYER – see, would Eric B and Rakim really count though, since only Rakim rapped? If we’re talking just straight duos, regardless of who does what, then no doubt. And I’d add Gangstarr there as well. But if we’re talking about two rappers, that’s a different thing right there.
Yo Schneezy, I got a request for you.
It’s not an old-school classic, but it’s the one song I think of when I think of basketball and hip-hop – Tribeca’s “Cold War”.
We obviously know where Enigmatic and BlackPhantom are from. Hot Boyz were one of the best groups to come out of the south but disbanded (Only two official albums, 3rd album released after they broke up) to soon to be considered one of the best ever like groups such as Outkast, Wu, Geto Boys, UGK, Ball and G, Fugees, Tribe….imo. This coming from a Hot Boy/Cash Money fan since ’95 but for Enigmatic to say they were garbage shows how ignorant to music you are.
I have three Outkast albums. ATLiens, Stankonia, and Speakerboxxx/The Love below. They’re my favorite duo. Now, favorite MC/DJ duo is probably Gang Starr. Favorite Group is the Wu.
Bad Meets Evil are the best duo at the mo’… (Em and Royce)
Black Sheep and Pete Rock & CL Smooth should also b mentioned as duos. Can’t leave them out
Jbub1911 – ignorant to music? That’s a new one.
You’d feel incredibly stupid if you ever peeped my itunes library.
Everyone from Led Zeppelin to Bob Dylan to Blu and Exile to Johnny Cash to Nas to Nina Simone to Young Bleed to Michael Jackson to everything in between.
Not liking one group doesn’t make one “ignorant to music”, kid.
Blackstar is the best in my book but Outkast is right up there!
@JDub1911. It really doesn’t matter his many albums a duo/group releases, n my opinion. All u need is @ least 1 classic album 2 be mentioned upon the best eve n hip-hop. Example: Fugees only had 2 albums. But one, The Score, is undeniably a classic.
@HAMMER – word. Sh*t, Biggie only dropped two albums! But who’s gonna say he wasn’t one of the GOATs? It’s quality, not quantity.
HERES SOMETHING: TWO GUYS FROM DIFFERENT DUOS COLLAB. BALL AND BUN WIN THAT. ANYBODY DONE THAT INTO AN ALBUM?
@JDub…I’m from Columbia,South Carolina. The Hot Boyz f*cking suck. I would talk about how I have Jimi Hendrix, Nas, Tupac, Rage Against the Machine, James Morrison,Frank Sinatra and The Clash all in the same music library but Enigmatic already shut the music library talks down.
I hear ya Matico.
@Black Phantom – I like your style, youngin’! I was just listening to Hendrix’s “Little Wing” not ten minutes ago too. Dude was a beast.
Honestly, in my opinion, anyone who really REALLY loves rap music understands that rap producers take music from the past, of all genres, and make them into the rap songs we know and love.
I got clowned once in high school cause I was listening to Michael Jackson’s “Human Nature” but I flipped it on dude cause he was a big Nas fan and said “Next time you’re blasting ‘It Ain’t Hard to Tell’, thank Large Professor for sampling this song”.
That’s cool if y’all think the Hot Boys suck because everyone’s entitled to their own opinion. Speaking of opinions, Tupac’s overrated, I rather ride shotgun next to JFK than listen to rage against the machine and I rather work as Jayson Williams’ chauffeur than listen to Led Zeppelin.
Mobb Deep is more my style cause I love that raw NY sound, but Outkast overall has to be the greatest duo ever. So many classic albums. Wu-Tang is still the greatest group ever tho.
And I’d rather be Eboy rocking a Miami #6 jersey in downtown Cleveland on a summer night when all the bars close than listen to Lil’ Wayne. But to each their own.
JUVE, TURK, AND BG WERE THE SH1T…. FOR WHAT THEY WERE. WHAT YALL FOOLS KNOW ABOUT SOME BURNING SPEAR, PETER TOSH, CULTURE, DENNIS BROWN, ETC???
SAME COOKE, BUDDY GUY, LOUIS JORDAN……..
I don’t know any “SAME COOK” but Sam Cook was dope as hell.
SAM COOKE, ACTUALLY
Red Hot Chili Peppers, best group all time.
What about The Cranberries? REM? Smashing Pumpkins? Nirvana? Shouldn’t they be considered as well?
HAMMER: now were talkin! the pumpkins and nirvana are dope! REM is good too, and also the peppers… kurt kobain is like the 2pac/biggie of rock
@Schneezy: no “git up, git out”?!
Yeah. I luv “Bullet with butterfly wings”. Song gets u amped up. And I never could figure out what the lyrics for “Smells like teen spirit” actually mean. Its a dope song w/out a doubt tho.
Love me some Tupac.
And Hot Boyz. But any group with Young Turk in a prominent role cannot be the best of all time. They were hot for a time in my life.
If one album counts then NWA is on the list.
Oh hell there he go again, talkin that sh*t!
Dear Andre 3000: please give us another album. Thanks.
Hot Boyz really, gtfo here best group of all time,
say it with me now, Wu Tang Clan
Gza, Meth, Ghost and Rae
Hell even U-God would eat Wayne for breakfast
And the Rza would tear Mannie Fresh into pieces
And also what about the Doors and the Talking Heads and AC/DC all classic.
Tis good stuff, good music is good music and that’s universal.
Cant say Outkast the best group from the South though…….it’s all about UGK
I love OutKast, but for the best duo ever I’ll have to go with Raekwon & Ghostface. Guess who my top group is.
What about Rock & Ruck!? Heltah Skeltah is NICE!!
Hotboy the best group of all-time.. sorry… I mean, they did feature the “supposed” best rapper alive, right? SO it makes since…
Wow some great lists on here especially matic. But I’m astounded that nobody here has love for pharoah monch. Easily the most intricate Mc ever…so my vote for best duo is organized konfuzion…also a fan of blackstar outkast ugk and eeric b&the god
