Eddy Curry to Play in Melo League-Goodman League Game

The Melo League-Goodman League game—which is going down on Tuesday and will feature LeBron James, Chris Paul and Carmelo Anthony playing for the Melo League and Kevin Durant and Brandon Jennings playing for Goodman—just got a new participant: none other than Eddy Curry, who will suit up for the Melo League’s squad. HOOPSWORLD’s Alex Kennedy has the scoop:

  • Marcos Zapater

… Eddie Curry x DeMarcus Cousins. Lots to learn… lots.

Curry is one of the most frustrating players ever. He has talent and size, just didn’t seem to give a flying f*ck. Got paid, we heard he got into some money issues… coulda lived a charmed life, really.

  • BE.water

I am gonna laugh myself silly if Eddy Curry comes in and dunks on Cousins’ head, though.

  • Rainman

I hope dude has a good outting, a lot depends on this game with him

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

If Curry is even in reasonable shape y’all will see why Isiah gave him all that money.

  • http://www.yomamajokes.com LilKDub503

More like “Curry to take up space to play in Melo League-Goodman League Game”. For real though, I’ll never give him love because of that tattoo gallery set of pictures with him and his shirt off. I’ll never forgive him or SLAM and the guy who put that together. All of yall suck.

  • http://slamonline BossTerry

I’d like to sign this guy to my pie-eating contest team..

  • http://www.slamonline.com Pardeep

    I hope Curry kills it.

  • http://dskjfl.com Jukai

Allenp: Oh yeah, the guy that signed Jerome James right before drafting Curry and paying out the wazoo for Zach Randolph immediately after giving Curry that money will be totally vindicated when we see Curry play in a no-defense pickup game.

Shame on all you. I expected 80% of this to be food jokes.

  • Tobi

@MUBWAR almost more like his middle school body

  • http://bedotwater.bandcamp.com BE.water

my food joke mustn’t have been comical.

  • Toner

Curry will be a beast, patrolling around the caterer’s table…. They’re HIS hot dogs, damnit.

  • Yesse

I got a feeling, that Cousins got this match up, but will see. Will be fun to watch.

  • http://www.bullls.com Enigmatic

@Jukai – the Bulls drafted Curry.
And in his best season with us he averaged 16 and 5, and had that heart condition towards the final year, and people thought the Bulls were stupid for letting him walk and go to the Knicks for a few first round picks.
Those first round picks ended up becoming Joakim Noah (thank you, New York!) and LaMarcus Aldridge (you’re welcome, Portland!).

  • http://dfklf.com Jukai

My bad, Enigmatic, forgot about that— should read “Oh yeah, the guy that signed Jerome James right before giving up two first round draft picks for Curry and paying out the wazoo for Zach Randolph immediately after giving Curry that money will be totally vindicated when we see Curry play in a no-defense pickup game.”
    He’ll turn heads!!

  • Harlem_World

In this type of game, the CP3/Jennings matchup will be good. Melo kills Green. KD/Bron will even out. KD won’t be stopped by anyone in single coverage but neither will Bron. If Bron tries to match KD shot for shot, he’ll lose, but if he drives to the basket – they even out. If in shape Curry shows up, that match up should be a good one too.

THE CLOUD OF FAST FOOD LITTER THAT FOLLOWS EDDY’S EVERY MOVE WILL BE VERY DISTRACTING FOR DEMARCUS

Eddy Curry vs. the post-game food spread.

  • Flud

He might have mis-read it as the Mayo league – Hellmans league game. Fat eyelids can warp your vision.

Flud came in late but shut it down.

    HAHAHAHAHAH, @ Flud.

    Jukai
Nobody seems to think dude can play. I always thought he could play, he just didn’t do certain things. And, before Marbury got hurt that season before they got Z-Bo, the Knicks looked like they would squeak into the playoffs.
I always thought Isiah made a mistake playing ZBo and Curry together because neither of them hustled enough, but both of them clearly had talent. As did Jamal Crawford, Wilson Chandler, David Lee and Nate Robinson. Honestly, was Isiah’s tenure as GM that much worse than Larry Bird’s?

  • http://www.twitter.com/dfrance21 dfrance21

I wonder if Kobe is hurt he didn’t get a call to play? He claims him and Melo are boys.

  • http://redoftoothandclaw.ca/ niQ

Allenp, I always thought he could score, no doubt. But from what I hear it’s his conditioning that’s kept him off the court. (That, and no defense, I guess.)

  • http://www.opposingviews.com/i/nba-breakdown-cba-talk-revenue-sharing-salary-caps-and-lockouts Allenp

Dude was a very good post scorer. Soft hands, great touch, good at getting position. He just was fat, and didn’t hustle, didn’t rebound and didn’t defend.
But he could get buckets with the best of them. I think Isiah believed he could turn dude around. He was wrong.
But, given how ZBo and Crawford have thrived in different settings, it’s obvious that weren’t bums.

  • chingy

Anyone know if this game is going to be broadcasted? This is gonna be one high scoring game.

  • mgc

I really hope he earns his own redemption

  • Kid Dynamite

Melo league wins easy, with CP3, Lebron and Melo-I can put money on that. Oh yeah, and the post game pie eating contest? Forget about it!! LOL

  • http://www.slamonline.com UNFROZEN CAVEMAN LAWYER

ALLEN, ZBO AND JAMAL THRIVED BEFORE NY.

  • http://slamonline.com LakeShow

Cousins *vs* Curry…. Wow, battle of the decade. Two fat talents that may or may not figure things out. Wish we could watch this game. Why they don’t stream it for $5 a pop I do not know.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

being the leading scorer on a 23 win team (Crawford) is hardly thriving.
    – And Zach Randolph has been the same player production wise his whole career. between 17-20PPG and 9-11RPG. Randolph has been the same player just was never as efficient as he is now… But his “rise” as a player is completely over exaggerated.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

I disagree. ZBo never passed before. He passes now and attempts to defend. Those are huge changes because they took his game to another level. He could always score, but he was a black hole of epic proportions before.
Crawford, is in the proper role in Atlanta, and is doing his thing. Straight scorer, a little playmaking. That’s what he’s always been, and Isiah actually let him do that in New York. Maybe I’m tripping, but I used to watch that Knicks team hard on League Pass and saw something there with the right coaching.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

idk who you are but your posting as me. anyway,

    - assist/passing wise, Randolph is where he has always been. about 2APG with about 2TOPG.
-Defensively Z-Bo is also about the same, he gave up less points per 48 minutes then he did in previous seasons, but he also gave up an increased number of rebounds.
-The Grizzlies as a whole got a lot better defensively, but that can be attributed to them adding 2 of the top 4 defensive wings in the whole NBA (Tony Allen the best defender in the league, and Shane Battier, the former best defender in the league), and Marc Gasol’s defensive improvements, mainly protecting the rim (1.9BPG).
-To Randolphs 25 total blocks on the whole season for comparison’s sake.

  • chazz michael michaels

    good. fatboy needs it

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

Oh and Eddy Curry’s shot attempts have only gone down by not even a full (1) attempt per game since last season, hardly any different then when “he was a black hole of epic proportions” (Last season FGA per game 15.8, most he has ever shot per game in his career 18.9 his last year in Portland when he averaged 23.8 and the team went 32-50 – Considering Rudy Gay, OJ Mayo, Marc Gasol, & Mike Conley all averaged over 10PPG I think touches wise he’s attempting shots at exactly the same rate as he was in previous years. Anybody got access to Synergy?)

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

    Zach Randolph’s* — my bad

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

That was me posting as you. Thanks Slam.
I disagree with looking at assists to see if Zbo is passing more. Many of his passes out of double results in ball swings, not immediate buckets. But, it’s cool if we disagree on him.

  • http://slamonline.com LakeShow

NBK vs NBK lol. I Agree that ZR has not really changed much at all since entering the L. Obviously he got smarter, but the skills were always there and were always on display. Who you want on your team nbk, K-Love, or ZR?

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

I want Kevin Love. more effort, younger, more range, much much much better passer. But if I need a go-to guy I’ll take Zach Randolph because he’s better in that role, but I wouldn’t be happy about it. (Allen you could be right, I only saw prolly 25 Grizzlies games this year, and if i’m not mistaken they are by far one of the worst 3pt shooting teams in the league, which logically would take away a lot from Randolph’s passing game).

  • http://slamonline.com LakeShow

Wise choice. Even if they were both the same age I would take K-Love. I think he may some day be as good a ‘Go-to-guy’ as ZR. He has the shooting touch. He needs to work on his post skills. Still even then I wonder if he’s to short/un-athletic to get off a shot on allot of PF’s is my worry for the guy. What about Lamarcus Aldrige or K-Love? Sorry i’m super bored at work just need to pass time lol.
