I love Common. Hell, I practically grew up on Common. But this joint here doesn’t even crack his top 10, in my opinion.
1. I Used to Love H.E.R.
2. The 6th Sense
3. The Corner
4. Retrospect for Life
5. The People
6. Go
7. Soul by the Pound
8. Announcement
9. Take it EZ
10. Testify

Rappers like Common bring balance to the rap game. Not all about violince and money and all that other crap.

I’ve enjoyed Common’s approach and style for a good bit now, but I knew this was gonna upset the heads that go way back with him. Enigmatic took the words right off my keyboard; this isn’t a knock on The Light as much as it is a statement about the rest of his catalog…

Common + J Dilla production = Quality.

dam matic, i’m surprised that you don;t think this is one of his top ten, i loved the heck outta this song, heck the whole album really. Then again, i’m not a chicago head, so i didnt’ get to listen to com sense when he first came out…his best song i ever heard was called Resurrection. Sick beat, sounded like he freestyled the whole track–love the heck outta com sense, tho i gotta say that this dude now (in the movies and stuff) i don’t even know if it’s the same guy, man.

“I use to love H.E.R.” Classic. One of the smartest (prophetical?) song ever made.

Hey, Heals said it best, man. “this isn’t a knock on The Light as much as it is a statement about the rest of his catalog”

Like Water for Chocolate was actually my first Common album. “Be” is actually my favorite (yes, might be ridiculous compared to his earlier albums, but still, I’m going with “Be”)
Can’t wait for a new album, last one wasn’t good.

“Be” is actually my favorite too.
No ID was great at making dope beats for Common to spit on back in the day, but Common and Kanye together on “Be” was a match made in Chicago hip-hop heaven

Hey, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but “Like Water for Chocolate” is my favorite Common album. The vibe on that album from beginning to end was and is beautiful. Plus “It’s Your World Pt. 1&2″ needs to be in that top 10. When you drop a jewel like “My mother gave birth, but she really never had me/Left to the hood to play daddy” on a track, that should be in somebody’s top 10 list. I’m just saying …
Quick side note: I just learned about this dude named Slakah The Beatchild and he’s pretty dope. Here’s a sample of one of his instrumentals: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yIL-paorAm4

blackstar, it’s my own personal top 10.
You can’t tell someone else what should be in their top 10, go make your own. Lol.
