Hornets Talking Sale With Multiple Potential Owners

Team chairman Jac Sperling spoke recently with the Times-Picayune. Things like “long-term lease” must have Hornets fans (and NBA fans) excited: “‘Actually, we’ve started having conversations with potential owners already. The number of potential owners has grown. I think the commissioner mentioned there were four or five, and I think the number has increased a little bit. There are some potential owners who live in New Orleans and some who live outside of New Orleans. But all of them understand that they would be buying a team that would have a long-term lease here. And that’s the goal — to extend the lease to a long-term arrangement with the state as part of finding a new owner.’”

^True. I just can’t see a franchise surviving there long term, along with two or three other current NBA cities. These billionaire dudes overpay for teams in very small markets, overpay certain players, then want to make the NBPA the scapegoats for their issues smh.

Why does the league insist on keeping a team there? The Hornets are a big factor in why I lost my Sonics!

I want there to be a team in New Orleans, but I wish Charlotte still had the Hornets, rather than the Bobcats. New Orleans could be a savvy investment for the potential buyer; its value will increase as the city continues to recover from Hurricane Katrina and the population grows. I just hope they get an owner who is prepared to spend to win, because Monty Williams is a good coach, and with the right ownership CP3 might be convinced to stick around.

who in their right mind would buy the hornets? fans dont show up even tho they have a franchise player. That same franchise guy is on his way out, and after him their best player has a torn acl and an otherwise unexciting game.nobody is gonna pay to watch david west shoot jumpers. whoever buys this team is an idiot.

Allow Francesco Aquillini to purchase the club and relocate to Vancouver. We deserve a 2nd chance, I don’t care what anyone says. We had and still have a great basketball fanbase. We just need solid ownership.
