No. 10 Murray State Rallies to Improve to 22-0

by David Cassilo / @dcassilo

After trailing by 11 points at home, No. 10 Murray State scored 48 points in the second half to beat Southeast Missouri State, 81-73, and stay undefeated.

Sparking that rally was junior guard Isaiah Canaan, who scored 24 of his 32 points in the second half. The Racers’ leading scorer has seen his ppg jump from 11.7 last year to 19.3 this year.

Of all the reasons as to why the Racers are still undefeated, Canaan might be the biggest.

From USA Today:

“Isaiah Canaan is a special player,” said Southeast Missouri coach Dickey Nutt. “Special players step up in special games and that’s what he did . He hit big shots when the game was on the line, especially contested and also from very deep range, so I have to give him credit for that.”

Next game should be a little easier for Murray State. The Racers will take on Tennessee-Martin, who has started the season 3-21.

Murray State is good, but much like Boise State in football, they rarely play anyone of quality. Not hating, just stating.
