Tony Parker Commits to UCLA

When UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion opened its doors in 1965 it featured an incoming freshman class that included Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Lucius Allen. Now as the Pauley Pavilion prepares to reopen in the fall after going though a $136-million renovation, it will feature the most talented group of freshmen since it’s first year. The only difference is that freshmen are now allowed to play as first-year student-athletes, which was not the case back then. Having already signed highly touted seniors Shabazz Muhammad, Kyle Anderson and Jordan Adams, the Bruins got news today that one of the top centers in the 2012 class will also be joining them in Westwood. Tony Parker, a 6-9 center from Miller Grover HS in Georgia, chose the Bruins over Duke, UGA, Kansas, Ohio State and Memphis. Parker averaged 16.6 points and 11 rebounds this past season, leading his school to four straight state championships.

Press conference was longer than I imagined, but I can respect that his family and friends wanted to show their support, even though I’m sure Tony cringed while watching his highlight tape haha. UCLA has a stacked class this upcoming season. Let’s see if they can do some damage! College ball is always better with UCLA up there competing.

now if the coach can make the team n coaching staff to speed up the offense and to run some ! and let the freshman play a good amount of minutes! THEY WILL make mistakes , but better they make errors sooner than later !hopefully he greets the recruits with arms open and using the whole squad 8-10 players and use there god given talent !

Dumb move, you picked UCLA over Duke with no inside presence and Kansas losing Thomas Robinson and Ohio State losing the overrated Sullinger. Man UCLA is pulling some Blue Chips type stuff. BOOK IT!!

Howland has been producing NBA players. Looking forward to watching the Bruins play this year.

Well Tony Parker never went to college. The funny thing is that TP said that had he gone to college, he wanted to go to UCLA

Look how far we’ve come in 3 months – from “Howland and Guerrero must go” to best recruiting class in the nation. Very interested to see how Howland deals with THIS many highly touted recruits at the same time (has he ever had to deal with talent like this before? Those Final Four teams weren’t made of the same blue chip mettle). We wrote a little more here – http://thegreatmambino.blogspot.com/2012/04/restoring-hope-in-westwood-uclas-2012.html – even before we knew Parker was coming. Good times coming this fall in Westwood.
