Tony Parker Commits to UCLA

When UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion opened its doors in 1965 it featured an incoming freshman class that included Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Lucius Allen. Now as the Pauley Pavilion prepares to reopen in the fall after going though a $136-million renovation, it will feature the most talented group of freshmen since it’s first year. The only difference is that freshmen are now allowed to play as first-year student-athletes, which was not the case back then. Having already signed highly touted seniors Shabazz Muhammad, Kyle Anderson and Jordan Adams, the Bruins got news today that one of the top centers in the 2012 class will also be joining them in Westwood. Tony Parker, a 6-9 center from Miller Grover HS in Georgia, chose the Bruins over Duke, UGA, Kansas, Ohio State and Memphis. Parker averaged 16.6 points and 11 rebounds this past season, leading his school to four straight state championships.
