  • http://nyill.wordpress.com/ O

I see Supreme Clientele, The Documentary, Get Rich or Die Tryin’ and Me Against The World on these Top 5 lists, but I can’t believe no one included Only Built 4 Cuban Linx or Makaveli. Either one of those two albums would DESTROY the albums I mentioned. It’s hard for me to compile a top 5 in order, so I just make a top 10 in order by the year of release. Only seems fair to me…

  • Donte

COME ON NOW Not one album ever release in hip hop has there been a gift and a curse bigger than Illmatic(it was written was a classic just like life after death but nobody talks about how commercial life after death is i i love both though), people wont let him breath everything is perfect. it is the prime example of being lyrical and not over doing it, almost every nas review at least mentions it , a college professor wrote a book on it there has been 3 mixtapes tributes to it love every album mentioned but nothing comes close @boweezy24 yes a morden day classic is section 80

  • http://www.soundcloud.com/tray-5 T-Ray

Cosign O I forgot about Makaveli and OBFCL that album plus part 2 were classics hands down. Now it’s hard to find an artist putting out classics. I’ll ride with TDE straight spittas over there all 4 hold their own.

  • ttc

agree wit O, OB4CL and especially the Makaveli albums are classics (dont forget Me Against The World..OUTLAW!!! OUTLAW!!!)…but i’m always suprised people dont mention Goodie Mob’s SOUL FOOD…that ish was just the..dont know how 2 describe it..so soulful..i dont know any other Hip Hop LP which hits u soul like that..to me SOUL FOOD is my number one..if u havn’t done it yet, give it a good listen..PEACE

  • Ill Smith

Any Wu album from that 1st run (36 Chambers, Liquid Swords, OB4CL, ODB’s 36, Ironman) can fit in a top 5 with no complaints. Wu from 93-97 was the single greatest thing to happen to hip hop. This is coming from somebody born in 91 lol

  • Ill Smith

Just a few other classics that couldve fit in here: Stakes Is High, Makaveli, Black Star, AmeriKKKas Most, Reasonable Doubt, Late Registration, MBDTF, Little Brother’s Minstrel Show, Aquemini, Stankonia……damn I mite have to redo my list again. Sad hip hop ain’t producing classics like these anymore…

fruizm: about you posting “some real good hip hop”… if ATCQ doesn’t qualify as “real good hip hop”, well… I just hope you’re not serious.

  • http://slamonline.com The Philosopher

The Chronic is the greatest album in the history of Hip Hop.
    To this day.

    Philo FTW though…

  • fruizm

    @The Philosopher….youre CRAZY!

  • http://slamonline.com The Philosopher

    ^Lol. I know… I know.
There are reasons that that album is the best rap album ever.
    The innovation.
    The acoustics.
That album was the first of its kind.

  • shawnkemp4prez

    1. Ready to Die
    2. Aquemini
    3. Low End Theory
