Report: Andrew Wiggins to Reclassify to 2013 Class

Months of speculation and rumors over whether Andrew Wiggins, arguably the top high school basketball player in the country, would reclassify to the 2013 class can now come to rest. The highly-touted recruit’s father told USA Today that his son is ready and looking forward to playing in college next fall. With Jabari Parker, Julius Randle, and the Harrison-twins also leading the pack for the 2013 group, this has to be one of the greatest classes of all-time. From USA Today: “Mitchell Wiggins said Thursday that he expects his son, Andrew Wiggins, to play college basketball next season. Andrew Wiggins is a 6-foot-8 small forward at Huntington (W.Va.) Prep who is considered the best high school player regardless of class in the United States. “It’s time,” Mitchell Wiggins told USA TODAY Sports. “It’s time for him (to show) that he is the best in college right now. I think he is ready for the next step. Academically-wise he is doing great. Maturity-wise he is doing great. He has a lot of talent. He is ready for the next step, and everybody knows it is time. It is Andrew’s time. Next year is coming soon and he is ready.” Mitchell Wiggins said his son will publicly announce his decision to reclassify and attend college next season when he is comfortable. Kentucky and Florida State are among the schools in the hunt. “

Number 1 pick in the 2014 draft. If there was EVER a player I’d want my team to tank for…it’s him.

  • Dax Whittle

That’s big right there. I hope he goes to Florida State, but if he goes to Kentucky, it might be a wrap 2013-2014.

DUDES GOT THAT OJ MAYO HYPE, HOPEFULLY HE’LL STAY ON TOP THO..

  • Yoplait

Another OJ Mayo. Overhyped and going to just be floundering, average pro, drafted high.

Anybody that thinks this is another OJ is either badly informed, hasnt seen him play, or is off those salts. Maybe not Lebron or Kobe but definitely will be elite

The 2012 draft was the last draft that will EVER be good. No draft EVER will be good. Players are too young and stupid to actually understand the game of basketball. The real talent has passed, those few who carry the torch in the future have much to prove to get the true fans on their back.

Remember when Harrison Barnes and OJ Mayo were the next Lebrons? Yeah..

If this guy winds up going to KY along with the Johnson twins and possibly Parker, some Div 1 college coach is going to have Calapari assassinated
    .

  • Nacho

The people callin him the next OJ obviously haven’t seen him play. This kid is #1 regardless for a reason. He has UNREAL potential and there is NO way he doesn’t become one of the best in the NBA.

  • Rainman

A Toronto Product. I have friends that know this dude that i used to play ball with, they’ve played with him too. I’ve met hm before as well, wish him all the best.

    CONGRATULATIONS

like you’ve seen that OJ Mayo is a 6’4″ SG who reached physical maturity at age 16 right? Cuz, uhm, Andrew Wiggins is a 6’8″ SF and he’s still maturing…….

  • TheKid

Calipari will not be assassinated because Parker ruled out Kentucky a while ago.And supposedly FSU is at the top because Wiggins dad went there. but i do agree with your underlying statement that KY will win it all with Harrison twins and possibly wiggins

  • Perry the PlatyPteranodon

Dude you sound like a senile old man, reminiscing about the glory days…

  • Redd

Hate me if you want but I got my dude Jabari still.

  • Rainman

    Thanks, bro

  • UJballin

Would this of happened if Jabari Parker wasn’t hurt during the summer evaluation camps? Probably not. Jabari>Wiggins

    Observation:

Quotation marks are needed to end Mr. Wiggins’ declaration of his son’s abilities, SLAM.

  • Conor

That would be a modern UNC ’84. Or the U. Michigan Five.

  • L7

Man puts a block against bryan colangelo (secret) plan… hope RAPTORS TANK WHOLE season for this kid..to be @ home and hopefully he doesn’t pull a lebron james, but a prospect like this… what a star studed event… what if you could draft kids out of public school or even pre-school like in soccer (I.e. David beckham, Plato, Messi)

OJ was too old to be in the grade he was in the first place. Him and Bill Walker were 20 year old college freshmen. I don’t anyone who isn’t retarded that graduated high school in 2007 when they were born in 1987 except those two guys. Wiggins is doing the right thing and going back to his natural class.
