Watch the Jim Couch Super 16 Training Showcase Streaming Online this Friday

Last weekend, 32 of the nation’s top freshmen and sophomores converged in New York City to prove their skills in front of legendary coach Jim Couch–Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s first basketball coach. These rising stars of the prep scene looked to capitalize on the opportunity and prove they embody the same drive, focus and work ethic that helped lead the former-Laker standout to greatness. At the event’s culmination, there was little doubt that many of the players in the gym were on their way to becoming highly-touted recruits. Among the standouts in the 2016 freshmen game was Temple Gibbs. He is the younger brother of Ashton (Indiana Pacers guard) and Sterling (Seton Hall guard) Gibbs. Another player with a quality performance that has NBA bloodlines was Devonte Green. Following in the footsteps of his older brother Danny Green (former North Carolina standout and current Cleveland Cavaliers forward), the younger Green showed promising potential and finished with 20 points of his own. Ty Jerome was another guard that had the crowd buzzing with his shooting stroke from behind the perimeter, at one point draining six consecutive three-pointers. The sophomore game featured 6-9 dominant power forward Thomas Bryant’s game-high 23 points. Georgia’s Kejuan Johnson also had a strong showing with 18 points. One of the most athletically gifted young wings in America, Jamar Ergas, chipped in 14 points, making it look all too easy.
