Champs Sports Rewards Tweet With $15K College Scholarship

In today’s Twitterverse, one well-timed, well-thought-out post can go a long, long way. Just ask Demarcus Catchings of Arlington, Texas. Less than 140 characters earned Demarcus a college scholarship.

As part of its Cash 4 College campaign, Champs Sports, aka @champssports, asked entrants to tweet a photo depicting their “game” in the classroom, on the court or in the community. For his winning photo, Catchings not only received a $15,000 college scholarship—he also won a trip for two to the Russell Athletic Bowl on December 29 at Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium in Orlando.

Catchings was in the building as Virginia Tech outlasted Rutgers for a 13-10 overtime win. He was invited on to the field at halftime to receive his scholarship from Jonathan Krusewski, brand manager at Champs Sports. Not a bad reward for following and tweeting at @champssports on Twitter.

So get on your Twitter game—ASAP.

He gets paid for tweeting while college athletes are still on that slave labor 2.0. And no, a full ride to bullsh*t sociology degree university does not count as remuneration.

Then they should get a useful degree like engineering/science/math.

my point wasn’t the type of degree but the time on their hands to honestly dedicate to education. they know why they’re there. there are exceptions to the norm, but the norm isn’t trending well over the past few decades.
