HS Recruit Josh Level Collapses & Dies During Basketball Game

Very sad news out of North Carolina, where 17-year old junior Josh Level collapsed and passed away during the fourth quarter of a basketball game last night. The New Garden Friends prospect was being recruited by ACC and Big 12 programs, according to MaxPreps. It is still not clear what caused Level to collapse. From the Citizen-Times: “Former Christ School basketball player Josh Level collapsed and died during a game Tuesday night in Winston-Salem. Level was pronounced dead after being taken to nearby Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, according to the Winston-Salem Journal. Level was a junior at New Garden Friends School in Greensboro and playing at Quality Education on Tuesday night. He averaged 9.0 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.1 steals per game for Christ School his sophomore year. Level began this season with the Greenies before leaving the program in December.”

So incredibly sad and unfortunate for a life to end so quickly, so early, without any notice. Prayers go out to his family and friends.

RIP. At least his family can take solace in the fact that he went out playing the game he loved. Just so unfortunate.

Always sad to hear when someone dies suddenly and so young. RIP kid
Hope I don’t offend anyone but it was more than likely sudden cardiac death. Happened to a friend of mine a couple of months ago. Very tragic.

RIP It always amazes me how life has so many wonderful gifts, but it can all be taken away so tragically like this.

If that happened at Quality Education Academy that’s crazy. I remember when they were building that school, err, church. Man. Hate it for the family but you never know what is in store for people. May have been the best/easiest way for him to go out.

CRAZY. I’m a student at a high school not too far from his, and I heard about his death from his friends on twitter. Then I go on Slam and find this. I had absolutely no idea this kid was a baller. RIP Josh Level..
