Michigan State Lands First Recruit of 2014 Class in PG Lourawls Nairn

The Spartans landed their first recruit for next year’s incoming freshmen class this morning, and it came with some bold promises from the subject himself. Touted as a tough, fast four-star nationally ranked point guard, the 5-10 Lourawls Nairn is already talking national championships. The Bel Aire, Kansas native chose Michigan State over the likes of Indiana, Minnesota, and Oklahoma. More from MLive.com: “When point guard Lourawls Nairn Jr. delivered the news to Michigan State coach Tom Izzo on Thursday morning, his verbal commitment came with some national championship chatter. “He called Coach Izzo this morning and said, ‘Coach, I’m going to Michigan State. We’re going to win a national championship,’” Sunrise Christian Academy coach Kyle Lindsted told reporters in Kansas. “And he’ll fight ’til the day he dies for that to happen. He’ll give everything he can relentlessly.” The 5-foot-10, 175-pound Nairn told reporters that he would bring leadership and toughness to Michigan State next season, calling himself a “perfect fit” on the Spartans after being sold on them during his official visit earlier this month. “The thing that stood out to Michigan State with me is that it’s a big family,” said Nairn, whose nickname is Tum Tum. “Coach Izzo’s a great dude, and he said one thing to me that stood out to me when we were talking when I was up there. He said, ‘Tum, I want to make you a better person,’ and that means a lot to me because I’m a human being before I’m a basketball player, so I’m just excited to get up there.”
