SLAM x Draftstreet Free $500 Fantasy Challenge

Two weeks ago, we ran the first Draftstreet.com free $500 fantasy basketball challenge of the 2013-14, exclusively for SLAMonline readers—to see who could build the best team of NBA players based on salary cap restrictions. And while I only managed to finish in an embarrassing 317th place, I still beat a thousand of you (see below). If you’re like me, and didn’t finish in the money, there’s good news—Draftstreet is running back the contest again this Friday!

This was my team last time around, which was buoyed by great performances by Anthony Davis, John Wall and Miles Plumlee, but bogged down by underwhelming nights from Andrew Nicholson and Alec Burks. Plus the winning team, “msolli” who took my advice on Plumlee and Davis, but also added Vitor Faverani, CP3 and Ricky Rubio to win the week:

This week’s free contest will once again be salary-cap style drafting, where everyone tries to assemble the best team out of the available players (anyone playing Friday night). You will have a $100,000 budget to build a team of 3 forwards, 3 guards, a center and a utility player.

Each NBA player has been assigned a price based on their expected fantasy performance—you’ll have to use your GM skills, since you won’t be able to afford an All-Star team.

You can adjust your roster up until the contest starts on Friday, November 15 at 7:00pm ET at which time your rosters will lock and the Live Scoreboard will be available.

Remember, this freeroll is exclusive to SLAMonline, so not only do your chances of winning go up, but you’ll have the chance to compete against the rest of the SLAM family (maybe even some of our editors and writers), head-to-head. Click here to enter the freeroll!
