Former Louisville Forward Chane Behanan Transfers to Colorado State

by Bill DiFilippo / @bflip33

After getting kicked out of Louisville last month, former Cardinals forward Chane Behanan has announced that he will transfer to Colorado State.

Behanan’s tenure in Louisville was mired in controversy. He was suspended at the start of 2013 for an undisclosed violation of university policy, and was at the center of a scandal involving his 2012 Final Four ring appearing on an auction site. Behanan was cleared of all wrongdoing in the incident, and there is no word on whether or not his dismissal from Louisville was related to his violation of university policy at the beginning of the season.

When he was on the court, Behanan was a difference maker for the Cardinals. The 6-6 forward averaged 9.4 points and 6.8 rebounds per game in his career.

Via The Coloradoan:

Behanan, 6-foot-6, 250 pounds, has enrolled at Colorado State University and is taking online courses this semester while working toward his communications degree.

“Chane is one of most talented players in the country, and he will be a key addition to our program next season,” CSU coach Larry Eustachy said in a press release. “He has excelled at the highest level of collegiate athletics and there is no doubt that he will be one of the highest profile players to ever compete on the hardwood for the Rams.”

Behanan will not be able to suit up for the Rams this year. The team is currently 12-8 on the year, with a 3-4 record in the Mountain West.
