Lamar Odom Released by Spanish Club

A back injury has ended Lamar Odom’s run with Spanish club Laboral Kutxa after just two games. Odom’s contract included an early-termination option, per EuroHoops.net:

As it was expected the return of Lamar Odom to the States proved to be also the end of his short European career. His club, Laboral Kutxa, announced that his contract is terminated because he will not be ready to return to action at least for a two month period due to his back problems. The idea of a new career in the old continent might seemed like a possibility for Odom when he crossed the pond, however he was used in total just in two games by his team and only for six minutes in the top European competition, Euroleague.

Having a 2-8 record, Laboral Kutxa is practically out of the play offs race in Euroleague and will try to save its season in the Spanish Liga Endesa without counting on the former NBA champion with the Lakers. Odom’s contract included an early termination clause and this clause has been used. As he said via the press release of the Spanish club: “The voyage has not ended, but I have to be responsible towards the club. I am injured and I will need two months in the States for rehab. I am satisfied with the club and the city and everything happens for a reason. I think there is a home for me in Vitoria”.
