Kansas State Gives Head Coach Bruce Weber an Extension

After a 20-13 season that saw Kansas State make the second round of the NCAA Tournament, the university has decided to extend head coach Bruce Weber’s contract.

The extension guarantees that Weber will be in Manhattan through the 2018-19 season. This extension only changes the number of years on Weber’s contract, and does not change his compensation. Weber will make $1.85 million—increasing by $100,000 each year—that he coaches the Wildcats.

As a result of the new deal, [Kansas State Athletics Director John] Currie will also enhance the salaries of Weber’s coaching staff, Chris Lowery, Alvin Brooks III and Chester Frazier.

“Our men’s basketball program continues to make terrific progress under Coach Weber and his staff since their arrival,” Currie said in a statement released by K-State. “He and Megan (Weber’s wife) along with the entire staff, have really embraced being a part of the K-State family and Manhattan community. I am excited about the future of our program and forward trajectory under his leadership.”

Weber has won more games in his first two years at the school than any other basketball coach in the school’s history, compiling a 47-21 record with two trips to the NCAA Tournament.
