Jeremy Lin Out For Regular Season With Knee Injury

Just how crazy has this season been in the NBA? Perhaps its biggest breakout star will now be sidelined for the remainder of the regular season, and potentially the start of the Playoffs, as Knicks point guard Jeremy Lin needs knee surgery, according to multiple reports. Howard Beck of The New York Times has the details:

Jeremy Lin’s magical season has come to an abrupt and untimely end because of a knee injury that will require surgery. Lin, the Knicks’ point guard, has a small, chronic meniscal tear in his left knee, the Knicks announced Saturday night. He will undergo arthroscopic surgery and is expected to miss six weeks, wiping out the rest of the regular season and possibly the first round of the playoffs — assuming the Knicks make it. “It’s a big blow,” Coach Mike Woodson said.

    Sigh……

Is a breakout star made in a dozen games of wide open, turnover riddled games? Then he is most certainly the breakout star of the season.

Just realized how much of hater I came off as, I like Lin just got fed up mad quick with the “Hoopla” surrounding his play. On that note come play for the Raps Jeremy!

  • thebugg

    time to sign steph marbury

  • http://dodgers.com Joey E.

    ugh

  • http://www.nba.com Red

Hope he gets healthy for the 1st round, they’ll need him. I’d laugh if they signed Marbury, but it’d also be a good pick up but I doubt it they need guys suited for post season.

  • IamYOU

    I miss the Linsanity.. sigh..

  • g

@thebugg honestly that wouldn’t be that bad of an idea, might as well just try it (veterans min)

  • Wet

Is Aaron Brooks a FA? or does someone have him?

  • @Wet I think the suns have him

  • Waskito

Love the sequences with lin as the star/ leading man. Guess ( put aside amare’s injury), back to plan A with BD as a starter and melo touch the ball as much as he want and bring the Knicks to the 3 or 4 seed at the playoff.

  • BuzzerBeater

    This suckssss

  • http://www.nba.com Red

3rd or 4th? LOL you guys are battling for 8th seed with the Bucks still.

  • c.a.

    Linkneesanity!

  • Shecky Shabazz

Serious question: Has he done enough this year to win Most Improved Player since his season is done? There are other guys in the running (eg. Kyle Lowry, Ryan Anderson, etc.)

  • Nathan

    Curse of the SLAM cover?

  • ripslam

^Real talk. Rubio and Lin in one season. Also the Clips went downhill.

  • http://slamonline.com Ugh

    thebugg wins.

  • Brad N

    just bought knicks tickets too….

  • http://Roosterteeth.com Caboose

Hey Slam, can you do a mash-up cover of LeBron, Durant, Kobe, Rose, Dirk, Parker, Bynum, Westbrook, Wade, Melo, Josh, Gay, Gasol, Gasol, Granger, Iguodala, Deng, Nash, Stoudemire, Paul, Griffin, Bosh, and Garnett so that the Magic can win the Finals? K, thanks. (JK, I would never wish harm on any of these guys).

Jeremy Lin… a one month wonder??

  • dan

i hope thats only an april fools joke :/

  • Waskito

@red you missed the sarcasm. The original plan when they took melo n Chandler was to build a strong enough team that can finish at 3 or 4 come play off time. So they don’t have to face heat, bulls at the early stages of the play off.

  • Coggie13

    Jeremy Linjured.

  • ClydeSays

Tough break for him. Hope he gets his paper this summer. Davis & Bibby aren’t exactly ‘healthy’. This is going to be a tough finish for the Knicks…

  • RunNGun

damn… first rubio and now lin… my league pass is hurting.

  • BigDickCheney

It doesn’t matter if he was out for the next 16 weeks! This years finals…OKC vs Miami!!

  • Drig

    The Linjuries continue for NYK.

  • Mike from Spain

When Rubio got injured I remember someone came out and commented that Rubio deserved it because he wasn’t strong enough and Lin was so much better and had the proper physique for an NBA player and blah blah blah. Injuries always suck and can hit anyone for a lot of reasons. I hope Lin gets healthy and back in playing shape soon.

  • y.cheng

curse of the slam cover… now it’s only kevin love….

  • http://caseyvaughn.com AlbertBarr

I can imagine that the huge increase in minutes in a lockout shortened season contributed to this. Maybe the conditioning wasn’t quite good enough for the punishment he was going to take. Get healthy, get stronger and come back with a vengeance.

  • http://slamonline.com The Philosopher

    He’ll be fine.

  • Big Marv

Slam curse is still alive. THank you.

  • http://nyill.wordpress.com/ O

Like my homie said last night, why the hell does this happen to the Knicks? Jared, Stat, Melo, Lin – why can’t this happen to the Heat? Mike Miller doesn’t count btw. I swear the Knicks been cursed since the Ewing trade.

  • http://nyill.wordpress.com/ O

Btw, i’m not wishing ill will on the Heat. Just saying…

  • http://espn.com J DuBois

This is crazy now they need a back up for bdiddy

  • http://www.kb24.com The Seed

What goes up, must come down. He was overrated anyway like Flip Murray style for about 10 games. BOOK IT!!!

  • Dingo Rob

@o yeh Knicks are unlucky I guess i suspect it comes down to the conditioning team and how well players are looking after there bodies and some luck. Lin is no surprise to me

  • http://redoftoothandclaw.ca niQ

I don’t want to say curse of the SLAM cover but…
    lol

  • ken

I wanna say.. is this April Fools?

  • ab40

old news, I hope he recovers swiftly. I think Nikola
Pekovic deserves the MIP right now but I think Lin will win it anyway.

  • crooklyn

How will the NY rags deal with no more “Lin” inspired headlines, and useless backstories to fill their tabloid resembling sports section

  • toinefan88

I hope he lincovers in time for the lin-offs.

  • dan

haters gotta hate. so far the knicks look good without stat and lin, two starters. i wonder how many teams can say that about themselves (except maybe the bulls).
it is great what that team pulled together even all the struggling. they won 8 out of their last 10. and they keep going. so what can be said to all the haters here? the criticism is pointless. its just jealousy that their crappy squads dont have cindarella stories like ours. or to put it short: haters gotta hate
