How the HELL did Joe Johnson make the East reserves over Lance Stephenson, and Kyle Lowry that’s BS!!

  • DavidLee

Joe Johnson over Lance Stephenson?? really??

  • RKJ92

AND DAMIAN LILLARD OVER ANTHONY DAVIS!?!? WHAT!?!? BLASPHEMYYY -.-”””

  • https://twitter.com/jasontichenor Mr. Wet

If Chris Paul and Kobe are both out, I’m betting Anthony Davis finds his way in. Gotta have a hometown boy in the game. I was rooting for Lance and Goran to make it.

  • IDOT

Joe Johnson is overrated and overpaid. He’s going to take Kobe’s spot in the starting lineup?

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

Kyle Lowry not making the East all stars is gross

  • bball guest 23

Joe Johnson was the coach pick. He has been playing all star caliber ball. We are just so use to it that it’s easy to overlook. The coaches who play against him voted him in.

  • RKJ92

    It’s the biggest pissoff..

    Joe Johnson – 15.7- 3.4 – 2.8 – 0.5 – 0.2 – TS%.553 – 14.9PER

    KYLE LOWRY – 16.8 – 4.3 – 7.6 – 1.6 – 0.2 TS%.587 – 20.4PER

  • eulerFermat

    Dude wrong conference

  • RKJ92

Are you f*cked? all-star caliber ball? more like good enough just to be a starter in the league.. nobody overlooked a thing, his numbers speak for themself.

  • http://twitter.com/niQknacks niQ

SMH They chose Joe Johnson over Kyle Lowry. .Wowww!

  • ATL dynamite

Joe has carried the Nets’ offense, leading them to their latest resurge. I would take Lowry over Johnson who only performed well in his latest 10+ games only, but in the coaches mind they may think Miami and Indiana are the two only standouts in the East so it would be fair for teams other than the two to have one player in. Instead of putting the blame on coaches or JJ, that blasphemous Kyrie starting pick should be the target.

  • Evan Boland

    Cousins???

  • Evan Boland

    Are you fucking serious?

  • Evan Boland

He’s had fewer than 3 FG’s in like what, 5 of his last 10 games? Give me a break, AS, that’s a joke.

  • Evan Boland

Ya it’s whack. Do you think Derozan is more deserving than Lowry?

  • Evan Boland

    Amen

  • Evan Boland

    Ditto

  • RKJ92

No. Lowry is our best player; DeRozan is just an above average shooting guard with a high ceiling. Not saying DeRozan isn’t good he’s just not better than Kyle at this point in time.

  • Da-Meat-Hook

Agreed. Although there are plenty of pgs with more talent, I can’t think of one pg in the Eastern Conference who’s been playing better than Kyle Lowry over the past 26 games (post Rudy Gay Trade).

  • RKJ92

There isn’t one; John Wall is the closest post Rudy Gay, and it’s not even really debatable.

  • RKJ92

Okay ATL I hear what you’re saying but.. the fact is Kyle is a better player this year than Joe, and that’s all that matters when selecting “all-stars” to put on a team.

  • RKJ92

He should have made it over Nowitzki… that’s another one that pissed me off…

  • ATL dynamite

I agree. I personally got offended by Joe’s and Kyrie’s pick cause they clogged up 2 pretty undeserving guard picks which, in my opinion, should be Lowry and Teague to take. Both ATL and TOr are going neck to neck in records, both PGs starting to take over, it would do a pretty good battle. but you know very well when Big markets and fan favs kick in it becomes a totally different story lol

  • Da-Meat-Hook

By no means am I saying they were completely robbed, but has there ever been a player who put up better numbers than DeMarcus Cousins’ 23ppg, 12rpg, 3apg, 26.5 PER and Anthony Davis’ 20.4ppg, 10rpg, 3.3bpg and 26.8 PER that didn’t make the ASG?

  • ATL dynamite

I am not saying JJ has been playing on a better level. my opinion is only a prediction on the coaches’ mindset that they have to make sense of Brooklyn’s latest upsurge that put them back in the playoff picture, and if they have to choose one that leads to the comeback of the Nets is JJ. That 37point game and increase in scoring output makes the best case out of everybody else on the team IMO only. and I don’t think the Nets deserve this as an all-star pick should factor in the whole season’s effort, not only some minor late runs here and there. Lowry deserves more.

  • Da-Meat-Hook

Reread my comment above. I’m not suggesting Cousins definitely should have made it, I’m just asking if there has ever been a player who put up BETTER NUMBERS who didn’t make the ASG.

  • RKJ92

Couldn’t have said it better :) hope to see you in the playoffs dude :P

  • Da-Meat-Hook

Oh crap. I just realized your post wasn’t directed towards me. My bad.

  • Roy Blumenfeld

Besides Lance Stephenson, Kyle Lowry, Anthony Davis, and Demarcus Cousins, Al Jefferson is the next biggest snub. He is averaging 19 points on 48.6% fg shooting/10.5 rebounds/2 assists/1 steal/1 block per game. He deserved it.

  • ATL dynamite

But it is what it is… in a Eastern Conference that has been so disastrous marquee players on every team would become an all-star hopeful… not a single player (even if selected) would have a concrete case over the others, that’s when you’ll find all-star snubs everywhere on the street lol

  • ATL dynamite

    hahaha i’ll see your there

  • Raptors better than west coast

Glad to see another Raptor back in the ASG!

  • spit hot fiyah

    he also misspelled idiot

  • ATL dynamite

Just a question, if there’s one vacant spot and you have to choose between Cousins or Davis, who should be chosen?

  • DreamShake1990

Still kinda shocked DeMarcus didn’t get in….

  • Andrew

AD. He’s DPOY good as reflected by his 1.5 stls and 3.3 blks per game. The fact that he also avgs 20/10 on 50%+ shooting and with the ASG being in new orleans? He’s the clear favourite, although if Chris Paul isn’t good to go I would imagine Cousins and Dragic being the next two players in line for an ASG nod.

  • Evelyn Robert

Gotta have a hometown boy in the game. I was rooting for Lance and Goran to make it.

  • RKJ92

    I just lol’d.

  • RKJ92

I would have loved to see Lance or Goran make it; they are playing out of their mind! I mean Lance already has 4 triple doubles on the season.. just incredible!

  • Caboose

DMC not in this really bugs me.
Cousins is top 10 in points, rebounds, steals (!), and PER. In fact, his PER is a blistering 26.5. He might literally make the All-NBA 1st Team yet miss the All-Star Game.

  • underdog

Nobody is as happy about this as Tim Duncan.

  • Blitzk3r

They both deserve to be there.

  • Caboose

I’ll take Born Ready over DeMar, for sure.

  • Drig

Lowry can’t even make it onto the team in a poor Eastern Conference……

And Cousins got shafted. He better replace Kobe over AD.

  • The one Charlotte fan

Man… What about Al Jefferson? He’s been balling, at least his team is in the playoffs, unlike the timberwolves.

  • Fitzy

    no love for love

  • JoeMaMa

Demarcus Cousins shouldn’t have made the team. Don’t get me wrong, he’s playing great, but he’s on a losing team. It’s the #1 reason, with #2 unfortunately (but accurately) being his bad reputation.

  • Sérgio

Well, he won’t make the 1st team, but your argument is pretty strong.

  • Roy Blumenfeld

Noah is averaging 11 points and 11.5 rebounds but made it. Joe Johnson is barely averaging 16 points a game and made it. While what you said about the East is true, it seems pretty clear to me that market size played a role in the selection process too.

  • Sérgio

For sure. And since he is the only consistent offensive threat for the Bobcats, he is constantly double-teamed, but has delivered nonetheless.

  • http://signup.divinerenergy.com/ Anthony Dixon

Yall are complaining about Joe Johnson but seem perfectly fine with Wade being a starter… What has he done?

  • http://signup.divinerenergy.com/ Anthony Dixon

His stats don’t translate into wins.

  • Stepfan Raiford

I’m pretty sure this has been said already but I have to say my peace. I like Joe Johnson’s game, but having one good month over a player in Lance Stephenson that has been playing well for the entire season thus far, I just don’t understand it. NBA politics strike again.

  • Max

    My god, dem snubs!

  • Stepfan Raiford

    David Lee snub?

  • 360

I like how everyone’s mad about Joe Johnson getting in, but nobody cares that Wade’s a starter? Lol. Also Dirk is playing solid ball this year, but no where in the vicinity of Anthony Davis right now. Also the fact the game is in his home arena? Robbery

  • http://www.sneakertheater.com/ Sneaker Theater

THANK YOU! He’s been more popular for banging side chicks than actually playing, but its a popularity contest.

  • https://twitter.com/jasontichenor Mr. Wet

Two reasons, the coaches didn’t choose he starters. The Fan’s dad.
2nd, we bitched about starters last week.

  • Dundler

    Stephenson & Davis…
Damn. At least Davis has the record argument against him (but the homecourt should wipe that clean), there is zero reason for Stephenson not to be in. I hadn’t realized how well Lowry had been doing either…
Seems like theres way more snubs this year. Get Johnson out, get Wade out,
I would say get Dirk out but if we did that there’d be no 90s players and I don’t want that

  • Armando

Over who? He’s def worthy of consideration but I don’t see a reason to be upset… The west team is fine imo… East…. Born Ready should start over Irving and Lowry deserves it more thn JJ, the coaches prob gave it to him based on the Nets play after Xmas… Heck, I’d take Deng over Johnson as well…

  • Armando

Davis, no doubt. 20/10, fg%, steals and blocks, elite D, unibrow, Pellie…. DMC’s been good, but Davis should be Kobe’s replacement… If Paul is out as well it’s between DMC, TD and Dragic.

  • playa

Anthony Davis – I eat pieces of sh#t like you for breakfast!!!! This fiasco is a lot like this paragraph:

“Despite critiques by Charles Barkley and Shaquille O’Neal, Howard is the NBA’s top big man” – you may laugh ar first but its just SAD. The only words i can say:

“Why?Why are the innocent punished? Why the sacrifice? Why the pain?”

  • Dfrance

Pretty shocked Lance Stephenson didn’t make it. He’s been balling all season, not just in 2014 like JJ. Leads the league in triple dips and has a direct impact on most if not all of Indianas wins. Where’s the reward?

  • kristwo3

    Wade: 18-5-5 54% fg, 40% 3pt
    JJ:16-3-3 44%fg 38% 3pt
    Stephenson:14-7-5 51%fg, 38% 3pt

what’s the problem with Wade starting again?

But Lance should be in over JJ. That’s very clear.

  • The Seed

Anthony Davis should be over Dirk-LOL. Then you can argue Howard vs. DMC. Also Joe Johnson should be out, with Lance taking his spot. Wade really, he is a glorified role player now, Lance should be mad, take it out on the Heat this year. Also if Bledsoe was still playing, he would have a legit spot on the All Star team. These are the only players that should be mad.

  • http://signup.divinerenergy.com/ Anthony Dixon

and Derozan should be over Wade…. I’m not refuting Lance being an all-star

  • kristwo3

fair enough, but why not over Kyrie? Dude on a 16-30 team. Just seems like people so quick to go at Wade when he’s still better than most these dudes on 1 knee.

  • playa

This type of thinking is STRAIGHT GARBAGE.Its event for BEST players, not for 4 players from 3 best teams in each conference….Lets make nba a joke like euroleague, pick 12 role players & make them use all shot clock,to play the right way(teams without STARS do it),obviously that’s what fans are paying&hoping for!!!

  • http://signup.divinerenergy.com/ Anthony Dixon

Ya i rather have Wall over Kyrie . Yea Wade is still good but not a starter too me.. And the Raptors may be 3rd place now but they don’t deserve to all stars .

  • Saleem Rainman

I’m sorry. Lowry not making the all star game is criminal. JOE FREAKING JOHNSON making it over him is just disgusting…

  • Saleem Rainman

Just to add to his point. DeMar deserved his spot, it isnt that Lowry shuda made it over him. Its the fact that he was left off for Joe Johnson.

  • Saleem Rainman

Davis will be chosen as a reserve, so this isnt THAT big a deal.

  • Saleem Rainman

yeah but thats a vote. thats also why noone complained about irving making it. The coaches are supposed to make educated and informed decisions. Not this crap.

  • Conor

The lack of Lowry and Cousins is disturbing.

  • RunNgun

LOL Don’t know how a player in the East can make the reserve team in the West.

  • http://www.facebook.com/Foxx.PH Foxx Dot PH

    Kobe Duncan!

  • Roy Blumenfeld

Kemba helps too, as he is averaging 18 points and 5 assists per game, but Al still is our best offensive player.

  • KipSmithers

    These are the reserves.

  • KipSmithers

DMC in one half, AD in the other. lol

  • Ty

I’m surprised Joe Johnson made it over Lance Stephenson but I didn’t think the Eastern conference coaches had enough balls to put DeRozan and JJ on the squad over Born Ready he has been the second best and consistent player on the Pacers who have the best record. Honestly I wouldn’t have a problem if there were three Pacers on the team because its justifies winning. Miami has three players on the team Bosh made it this year off the strength of Lebron and D Wade even though he is the second best player on the Heat now. The fans voted Kyrie Irving on there which is up for discussion since Cleveland is lousy I mean somebody gotta put up points on the team maybe its the NBA Live 14 cover thing I don’t know I can’t call it……………

  • VanCityBBall

Sign Lowry to an extention and let him AND Demar rep Toronto for when the ASG is at TDot in 2016. Let there be more build up. It’s not that I think Kyle doesn’t deserve it but I still think Lance should be chosen before him, with that being said I would like to swap Lance with Joe respectively, but then who would Kyle take out?

  • VanCityBBall

Never mind just checked Kyle’S contract… but my point still stands

  • Evan Boland

Yeah, from watching 10-12 Raps games this year, I got the feeling that Lowry was clearly the team leader.

  • Evan Boland

Totally agreed don’t see how he was snubbed, it’s rather obvious in reality though, Dirk is respected Boogie is frowned upon.

  • Evan Boland

    No s*** his team sucks

  • RKJ92

Refer to what kip smithers said.

  • 2chainz

You can say the same thing about Kevin Love…Anthony Davis deserves to be in ASG 2014.

  • Lloyd

It’s a numbers game. No way were they going to give Toronto two all-stars. Demar’s our leading scorer and he can put on more of a show. Lowry’s definitely our MVP though.

  • Saleem Rainman

ma bad, i meant injury replacement for Kobe.

  • KipSmithers

Just don’t let it happen again. ;-)
