Video: Should Dwight Howard be Suspended?

by Marcel Mutoni

Orlando has Philly on the ropes, and with the series shifting back to the City of Brotherly Love for Game 6, the question on everyone’s mind is whether or not Dwight Howard will be in uniform.

Shockingly, Howard (who had a spectacular performance) was allowed to stay in the game last night following the elbow he threw at Samuel Dalembert’s head last night, but the League has little choice but to make a decision about his eligibility to play in the next game.

Take a look at the video evidence and make the call: Should Dwight be suspended?

I don’t know, didn’t Garnett swing at a referee and not get suspended?

    Yes.

    I don’t know.

    Yes.

  • vtrobot

    1 game. Sorry, Superman.

  • http://www.kb24.com The Seed

Suspend him, he should have been suspended in the game and his 24 and 24 performance never would have came and maybe the Sixers could have won going to Game 6 in their house.

  • pendejo

    Yes, one-game suspension.

  • AZ

He clearly took a swing at him. suspension

  • Prison Mike

I’d rather Howard be suspended for Game 7 instead of on the road in Game 6. I wish the opposing teams could pick which game the othe guy has to miss out.

  • http://yahoo Daanswer

Yes. For a elbow to the head, deliberate, 2 games.

  • Pic

He should be but he won’t.

  • Jacob

    damn! he should, sorry superman

  • http://www.lkz.ch Darksaber

Oh please. Man up and keep playing. with the amount of holding/wrestling going on in the post/paint, this is nothing. At least supergoodie twoshoes is showing some nastiness. Good, he needs that edge

  • cdef28

Should Howard get suspended? Maybe. Should Dalembert stop leaning on him? Yes.

Should have been thrown out of that game, too. This series, to me, is raising questions about Howard’s game and character.

  • http://slamonline.com Tzvi T

When a guy is 250+ pounds of pure muscle, he can’t be allowed to hit anyone like that. Sammy could have gotten hurt, like Courtney Lee did.

  • http://www.slamonline.com blackjack

He should definitely be suspended. If it was the other way around and Dalembert had elbowed him in the head, he would have been thrown out of the game immediately and probably suspended as well.

  • http://www.okayplayer.com doyouwantmore

I think Jukai should be suspended. Dwight too. Nice to see some anger in his game but you gotta control that sH**

  • http://www.lamarcusaldridge.com/aldridge/index Dean Tharp

nope. that sh*t happens all the time

  • http://www.broy7.com nate the great

    yes, but wont happen.
    Reminincing of karl malone?

  • The Radness

if Dwight gets suspended, Rondo has to sit one out too for his head shot that actually hit someone.

  • Edmond

    he should be.

  • noahtheboa

    yes, no, er maybe

  • http://www.slamonline.com GotHandles?

Rondo should be fined and suspended for that foul on Miller. That was blatantly meant to cause harm.

  • riggs

lmao wasnt people talking about dwight being too nice of a guy and not having a killer instinct? so when he follows that OMG KICK HIM OUT OF THE GAME…bunch of flip floppers on here.

  • riggs

@GothandlesL: yeah since he was looking at the ball the whole time while trying to swat it he definately was trying to harm miller /sarcasm

  • German Reignman

    yes, one game …

    Rondo also one game

    riggs you have screwy logic

  • D12FSU

    no

  • Fat Lever

Hey Riggs, there’s difference between playing mean/being aggressive and deliberately throwing an elbow to the head of an unsuspecting player. The rule in the rulebook says something to the effect that an elbow throw to an opposing player above the shoulders that lands instantly warrants a suspension.

is it tasteless if i’m listening to Luda’s “throw dem bows”?

  • http://slamonline.com/online/category/blogs/fear/ Fred34

Oooooh I didn’t know he had that much gangsta in him! Hell yeah he’s out one game – way to stick up for yasself DHow. Maybe Sam deserves that all star spot after all if he can get into churchboys head that bad…

    LMAO@albie.

  • rainman10

Howard is my favorite player, and I don’t care if he gets suspended. I’m glad he did that. It wasnt too hard or too dirty, but maybe he’s finally starting to get to the point in his career where he needs to start sending messages. We have seen Shaq do those things his whole career, Malone was mentioned and we all know what Barkley was capable of.

  • http://apeachbasketandadream.wordpress.com Peach B.

Yes, specially with the way the NBA is doling out punishment to coaches.

  • Teddy-the-Bear

Yes, suspend Howard. That was a cheap shot, simple and plain.
But of course, they won’t. He’s a superstar, remember?
Rondo won’t get suspended either, but he should be.

  • http://shawn-kemps-offspring.blogspot.com Cheryl

Yes, but with a caveat: in another replay I saw last night, Samuel looked like he had Dwight’s in an arm lock and then twisted, like somebody trying to break an arm would do. and it was on the elbow with the brace. So, I’m thinking Dwight’s reaction was somewhat a message to Dalembert.

  • Cizzo

Most definately I’ve seen players in the NBA get in way more trouble than that for way less of an infraction!!!! By the way I think D.Howard is a superb player but it was no reason to react to random pusical play like that. As a matter of fact he will not suit up in the next game!!!!

  • http://sfdjilf.com Jukai

Rainman: wasn’t TOO DIRTY? Dude downright sucker punched Sam. That’s p*ssy stuff right there. Fight like a man.

  • Biz

    yes and it’s pretty clear

  • Dave, Santa Barbara

Until there’s a penalty box in basketball, suspensions will have to do. The refs should have been all over this and Rondo’s foul.

  • http://dillanleuyahoo.com Holy Baller

That’s wasn’t too bad. I say no. It was stupid, and he ran off after he did it, but he shouldn’t get suspended a game. He should have been given a technical and been thrown out of that one. But no suspension.

  • RM

    Yes.

  • Luke

    No,its the playoffs,man up!

From a Magic fan who was there last night haha. But seriously, these guys are men, play the damn game.

  • T-man

    Yes.

  • no id

Howard is a superstar so if it was Samuel he would have been given a tech, thrown out the game, suspended, fine, etc..So if he’s not suspended this will further make people believe it’s all politics when it comes to David Stern and the NBA.

  • Tavoris

no id…David Sterns wants Kobe vs Lebron anyway, so he very well may get suspended.
