UConn Women Win it Again

It wasn’t pretty, and it included a shocking eight-point halftime deficit for the heavily favored Huskies, but in the end, Geno, Maya and Co. did it again.

As the New Haven Register summarized: “Tournament Most Outstanding Player Maya Moore had 18 of her game-high 23 points in the second half and the Huskies overcame a late barrage of 3-pointers from Stanford to win back to back national titles and improve to 7-0 in national finals.

Sophomore guard Caroline Doty, who struggled throughout the Final Four with her shooting, hit two clutch 3-pointers in the final 5 1/2 minutes as UConn finished 39-0 for the second straight season and extended its NCAA Division I women’s basketball record streak to 78 games.”

They ran the table TWO TEARS IN A ROW. that’s insane. Congrats to the women winning it again. Unlike the men…

That was a good game in that it was a close game for once even in the second half. If Stanford’s Jayne Appel had actually made her shots maybe just maybe Stanford could have had the upset. Thankfully Moore and Doty finally got it going in the second half.
