Chamique Holdsclaw Signs With Silver Stars

SLAM’s only female cover subject requested a trade from the Atlanta Dream before training camp and was waived Wednesday. She’ll apparently join San Antonio in time for the team’s home game today with Los Angeles: “Three weeks ago, Chamique Holdsclaw asked the Atlanta Dream to trade her, upset with what she termed a “personal thing” with coach/general manager Marynell Meadors. Behind the scenes, the Silver Stars knew Holdsclaw was a ‘good fit’ for them, general manager Dan Hughes said. The problem, though, was whether Holdsclaw felt the same way. Apparently, she did.”

Wow, dare I say she is the only player to be truly bitten by a SLAM cover jinx? Didn’t she leave the sport all together for “personal” reasons? Now there is a “personal thing” going on. I wish her well but if she doesn’t get it together she will be the WNBA’s biggest bust and more importantly one of the very few goofs that SLAM has made. Again, good luck to her.

Is the NBA ready for her yet?

This is just crazy, they waive a rookie that was the number 1 scorer in college last year to then sign a vet that may come with some extra baggage. Who did Atlanta get, if anybody?
