On training camp, the no-jeans rule and Margo Dydek.

Hello, world. It’s your girl, DMJones!
I thought I would drop in and say a few words. It has been awhile since my last blog entry but I’m sure you all understand why.
After migrating back West from Europe, I’ve been in training camp preparing for the 15th Anniversary of the WNBA. Training camp is finally here and it’s no surprise that it has been filled with lots of running, laughter and good memories leading up to the season.
The talent pool that the coaches and GM’s have to choose from I’m sure will lead to many nights filled with sweet dreams. The match-up possibilities and creative play-sets are unlimited with this draft class. Their jobs have definitely become a little less stressful and a lot more fun. Still, it’s always tough when players get cut; especially when you’ve established friendships with them.
My sympathy goes out to those who wont make the cut but I’m truly excited to see the final rosters posted.
Conversely, there have been some down moments during camp also. Our good friend and former WNBA player, Margo Dydek, suffered a heart attack while being three-months pregnant and is currently in a coma. She resides in Australia with her husband and two young children. Please keep her name fresh in your mind while you’re in prayer. If my calculations are correct, there should be an overflow of support from her friends around the globe simply because of her angelic presence in our lives. She’s an awesome person with an immense amount of love and respect for those around her.
We love you, Margo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Another issue during training camp was the infamous (but short lived) NO JEANS rule that came into affect this season. If you’re saying WTFrenchtoast right now, I would certainly understand, lol. If you guessed that this decision caused a tremendous uproar amongst the players, you’re exactly right.
I personally called for a REVOLUTION on Twitter but my efforts didn’t go very far. Luckily our Fashionista of the league, Tina Thompson, became our spokesperson and had the decision reversed within days. #VETERANPOWER
Now that order has been fully restored we can carry on with our day-to-day training camp duties of building chemistry, sprints, and learning new plays and defensive schemes.
Besides, when did how we look become more important than how we play? #justsaying
Good luck and health to all my fellow WNBA’ers during these last days of training camp. #LOVE
GOD BLESS ALWAYS,
DELISHA MILTON-JONES
