  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

Sheryl Swoopes is the ballingest name ever. That’s like the perfect name for a basketball player. Was she signed to Nike??

  • BadBadLeroyBrown

Imagine if Cheryl Miller stayed healthy…

  • dma

let’s not imagine any of the miller family now that they’re not longer playing.

  • Hurricane

Ruthie Bolton-Holyfield. Not saying she should be on this list, she’s just one of the players that I remember, and I felt like saying her name. Go ahead, say it too!

  • http://ggfhh.com Jukai

    Ruthie Bolton-Holyfield!

  • JamesBond

Sheryl Swoopes, is the greatest women basketball player. She could do almost everything her male counter part could do. which wasn’t the norm in her time.

  • http://slamonline.com Ugh

“Ballers round the world know my name!”

  • http://itsahardwoodlife.blogspot.com omphalos

It’s a shame Cheryl Miller can’t make this list.

  • http://dodgers.com Joey E.

i know all these girls and could match their names to their face! yay! congrats to them. respect. and you guys talking about rockin a girl’s jersey, idk how any of you feel about lil wayne, but he wore a Skylar Diggins jersey a few months back

  • andy

Wearing a Dawn Staley jersey is less gay than wearing most NBA jerseys.

  • Hurricane

Personally, i believe that rocking a WNBA jersey is less “gay” as it would be “being comfortable in your own skin”, which most people are not. Because if you think about it, walking around with another man’s jersey on is about as “gay” as one could get. Well, not really but you get my point. Plus, there is a lot of “gay” stuff that happens around NBA teams all the time…dramatic hugging, putting their arms around each other as they walk away, pointing at each other in pictures all the time, giggling like little girls, feminine tattoos, etc. etc. I could go on forever.

  • http://www.optimabbc.be Max

    ^slapping eachothers ass? :)

  • William

Guys are wearing pink shirts and skinny jeans, wearing a WNBA jersey is more or less gay in this day and age…

  • http://Slamonline.com CatKiller

Is this the best controversy the WNBA can draw? Debating the gayness of wearing a jersey? lol god help us if this NBA lockout don’t end

  • http://www.slamonline.com spit hot fiyah

    wearing rudy’s jersey is gay

  • irondan21

Thank you David Sanchez. You will never catch me wearing a WNBA (Weak-ass National Basketball Association) jersey.

  • BostonBaller

Give me a jersey of a WNBA player of the past and I’d wear it before I wore skinny jeans or my pants hanging off my butt so far that I have to hold them up to walk..Don’t give me a pink one though.

No Michelle Timms? Rebecca Lobo (my personal fav womens b-ball player of all time)? Nikki McCray? Altho those players #’s might not merit consideration, but they played a major role n the early stages of developement for the WNBA…..Also if Jennifer Azzi had played longer for the WNBA, especially in her prime yrs, I believe she would have made the list as well.

Cynthia Cooper* (Houston Comets)— The Best Ever Player in WNBA History, PERIOD!!!

  • david sanchez

i’d watch WAYYYY more WNBA games if girls could dunk on girls.

I get BORED watching WNBA games, they dont even style when they lay it up. its like playing NBA games on Sega

And there’s nuthin wrong with Sega, but that’s just me. Im ol skool like that.

  • http://slamonline BossTerry

Cosign Catkiller.. I’m not gonna pretend to know very much about the WNBA.. But when Portland had a team for a short time (Fire) we drafted Jackie Stiles, whom I was a little familiar with after Slam ran an article on her.. Did she just disappear with the Fire?

  • http://philosopher.view@blogspot.com The Philosopher

    Shout out to Nicole Kaczmarski.

  • robb

    No Chris Bosh?

  • drew

@teddythebear..yeah sheryl swoopes was signed to nike. but seriously, cynthia cooper was the MJ of women’s hoops. cheryl miller was the bill walton of women’s ball, and the next ones to join this list should eventually be candace parker and maya moore.

  • david sanchez

forreal, if you were in my block in brooklyn wearing a wnba jersey, you would never hear the end of it. wnba jerseys are str8 gay. its embarrassing as embarrassing gets. the league is wack, the teams are wack, the jerseys are wack. they dont got any REAL skills. i bet adam morrison could easily sh*t on the best wnba player, no joke. wnba is terrible, games are always empty as a mug. P.S you people saying its okay to wear those gay ass joints should be ashamed. your grandfathers, fathers, sons, cousins, peoples should be embrassed of ya’ll. peace out

  • sadsnake

hey, @david sanchez, are you ok? did a woman leave you or something? courage, boy. the world is really cruel but don’t cry. i bet it wasn’t any of those 15.
p.s. wnba is better than nba for one simple reason. there is no stupid infantile lazy self-loving awkward pr-product millionaires playing over there. it’s a pure game to enjoy. well if you prefer fake to reality — no questions any more. be happy.

  • LP

    ticha pinicherooooooo = jaSON KIDD

  • Riggs

Brooklyn is wack. eff outta here with that nonsense.

  • Riggs

also how is cappie on that list but not rebecca lobo? wtf.

  • doc

Cappie a beast and will bust Lobo ass thats why she on over her.@sadsnake The wnba better than the nba? Are u serious?

  • david sanchez

hey @sadsnake,haha no my girl didn’t leave me. the truth is womans sports are boring as hell! the WOMEN DONT EVEN SUPPORT womens sports, Ladies would rather watch a men play the sports. if ya’ll dont agree, ya’ll on some bullspit. & brooklyns where its at my friend

  • http://www.iowsports.com/ Blue

Cynthia was a beast…I would have to add Honorable Mention to Andrea Stinson. She and Coop had some battles. @ Riggs: Lobo never lived up to the hype a la Chamique Holdsclaw (also a good player but the SLAM 29 cover with her in the Knicks jersey proclaiming her to be MJ’s heir apparent was way over the top). Also, not sure if I would ever rock a WNBA jersey but maybe the 96 Women’s Olympic Team jersey…Dawn Staley’s to be exact.

  • sadsnake

@doc, yes i couldn’t have been more serious comparing the wnba & the nba. you just refuse to understand what i mean.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

People who make the argument that the WNBA is better than the NBA, but use reasons that involve non basketball related actions make me laugh.
    Seriously, it’s hilarious.

  • K-Jay

Cynthia Cooper is the best womens player of all time. Not Sheryl Swoops. Cynthia and Sheryl won 4 championships together but Cynthia took all of the hardware. All four championships was followed by 4 finals MVP. Nobody will ever match that because nobody can win four consecutively anymore. She also deserved the first 3 regular season MVP’s. Womens game like women in real life hate on each other. They gave her third MVP trophy to Yolanda Griffith a newcomer because they were tired of giving Coop everything.

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

Anyone who’s more worried about appearing “gay” than you know, real things in life, is pretty insecure. STR8 UP MAYNE.

  • david sanchez

n*ggas who get mad at ppl NOT supporting wnba is str8 gay. it aint my thang. alot of people feel the same. like i said women dont even support female supports. REAL TALK. stop the gayness my n*gga

  • Rob Burns

The WNBA is better than the NBA because they play with much more effort on the defensive end. Not a lot of standing around like the NBA. Before you deny this, PLEASE watch an NBA game and then watch a WNBA game. It’s obvious. Plus, there is more of an emphasis on team playmaking and not so much one-on-one play like in the NBA. It’s more interesting to watch. If you like one on one showboating and fancy dunks, watch that crap, Ballup Streetball. There you go Allenp, there’s some reasons that are basketball related.

  • mattenglandfan

I have just started to watch the WNBA over the last few weeks. I would wear a WNBA shirt if they made mens style (like they do with mens for womans). I agree with all those making points about how good the WNBA is compared with NBA but i dont think either are better than. Its like comparing the NBA with other countries bball leagues… They are different games and both deserve respect from bball fans. Ill be following both leagues from now on. GO MAGIC! SPARKS! and PLYMOUTH RAIDERS!!
