Courtney Vandersloot Becomes Second Player in WNBA History to Record a Triple-Double in the Playoffs
Courtney Vandersloot was so laser-focused on securing Game 1 of the best-of-five semifinals that she didn’t even realize she had etched her name in the WNBA playoff record books, right next to Hall of Famer Sheryl Swoopes.
Vandersloot posted the second-ever playoff triple-double last night in the Chicago Sky’s double overtime thriller, dropping 12 points, 10 rebounds and 18 assists in the team’s win over the Connecticut Sun, 101-95. Swoopes, who recorded the first post-season triple-double in ’05, is joined by Vandersloot as the only two women to accomplish such a feat.
Her 18 assists matched her own single-game record while setting a new WNBA playoff record. She also finished with team-high four steals and two blocks.
After the game, Vandersloot stood in front of the scorers table in absolute disarray as ESPN’s Holly Rowe broke the news of her record-setting night.
