Jabari Brown was supposed to be the prized recruit that helped Dana Altman turn Oregon around. Instead, after two games and just 12 points, the player ranked No. 19 by Rivals.com for the Class of 2011 has left the team.

While Brown is gone for now, Altman hopes he returns soon.

From The Register-Guard:

“I will say right up front I don’t want him to leave,” Altman said. “I did try to talk him out of it. I hope he does reconsider, the door is still open.

“He’s a good young man who hasn’t gotten off to the start he wanted, (but) I think it’s a little too early to not try it out a little bit more.”

In two games, Brown averaged 6 points, 4 rebounds and compiled 11 turnovers. It’s unclear where Brown would go if he officially left the Ducks, but he originally chose Altman’s team over Arizona State, Washington, Georgia Tech and UConn.
