St. Vincent-St. Mary Boys Team Hosts Nike’s 2025 Chosen 1’s Invitational
For five years, the Chosen 1’s Invitational has asked one question, inspired directly by King James: who is ready to be great?
This year, the Chosen 1’s asks that question in more cities than ever. The second city up is Akron.
Akron is LeBron’s home. Simple as that.
It’s where the King earned his name. As a star at St. Vincent-St. Mary’s High School, he became famous all over the globe. He was the best high school player ever, a three-time Ohio state champ, the face of the Irish’s Fab Five and he lived up to the impossible hype placed upon his shoulders. The dunks and the blocks were loud. Microphones near the hoop on those otherworldly-athletic-feats picked up the audio of destruction. The passes were genius. His vision was far beyond his years. But there it was it, served up on platters for his teammates to finish the easiest looks of their basketball lives.
But he wasn’t just a superstar on the court. Off the court, he’s shown the most love to his city, the Rubber Capital of the World.
He opened a school in Akron for at-risk youth. One more time for emphasis. LeBron opened a school for kids in Akron. The I PROMISE School teaches kids from first to eighth grade and LeBron visits it at least once a year. As if that’s not enough, he even started the I PROMISE Housing development, which has provided 50 affordable units in Akron.
That’s why SVSM is hosting the last stop of the 2025 Chosen 1’s Invitational on Sunday, December 14. The second game to tip off will be at 7:00 PM when the boys team of the SVSM Irish play host to the Bulldogs of Garfield Heights. Click here to attend the event.
Leading the Irish is senior guard DeCarlo Prince. He’ll be going head-to-head against the Bulldogs’ senior guard Marcus Johnson. The fight of Interstate 77 is going to be epic.
Expect SVSM to be decked out in LBJ history. The Nike LeBron 23 will be on court as the whole event will be a celebration of the King’s entire journey. Nike is also partnering with House Three Thirty for a community giveback, facility refurbishments of SVSM and many more surprises.
When the lights are bright at SVSM this Sunday, one of these teams will carve out their place in history. Who will wear the crown? Who is ready to be great? Let the game choose.
