Dime Drop: Westside Connection

Raiders corner Nnamdi Asomugha talks hoops.

Here’s one thing we can admit: We didn’t expect Sunday’s Raiders-Chiefs showdown to hold so much weight. Nor did others. When Oakland (4-4) takes on Kansas City (5-2) this weekend, the whole world will be watching what could be Week 9′s best battle. What we did know, though, or at least found out in SLAM 143, was that Raiders secondary Nnamdi Asomughaone—one of the NFL’s best cornerbacksknows more than just football. Check our last issue’s Dime Drop, below, in which we spoke to the Raider about his basketball history and his love of hoops. (We know dude’s questionable for Sunday’s game, and hope he can give it a go. Get well soon, fam!)

Great stuff, Branden. Also: without getting into it, “Revis Island” has dropped a lot in my view in the wake of this entire process…

Shouts out to all my West Africans and Nigerians I see ya.

Yeah Ben, Nnamdi was super cool and humble. I know what you mean about Revis’ too. Unless your last name is Sanders and you wear #21 no corner in the league needs to be talking that much.

    Still the NFLs best corner

Revis is overrated and I think that dpoy got to his head, along with the contract negotiations. Nmandi is truly the best defensive back in the game. It’s nice to see the Raiders looking good. It’s even better to see the Niners looking terrible.

@Rudy: Revis got the DPOY? I thought Woodson got it.
