Great job guys. You just made me smile on a Monday, which is unbelievable. Even a hot girlfriend wouldn’t be able to accomplish that. Also, I thought you were about to rename yourselves The LeBron Magazine. I’m glad to see it didn’t happen.

  • LP @ThisisEther

  • Deckard

After Adrian Peterson runs back a 78 yard TD in the 1st play & on his 1st carry of his 2013 season coming off, the coming off of an almost record breaking season after COMING OFF an ACL tear…I’m really looking fwd to see what Jalen Rose does!

  • Deckard

Could someone please tell me the SLAM Jinx does not work anymore? PLEASE?

  • Guest

I just posted a new one about that SLAM Jinx which scares me a lot more than being lonely. Cause being lonely + No DRose on NBA League Pass = another boring year.

  • http://slamonline.com/ Ben Osborne

It’s exclusive to us but was provided by adidas and they just asked to be credited to them in the mag…so I’m not sure.

  • LakeShow

SLAM, start the Top 50 already.
My fingers are patiently awaiting SLAM season to open again…

hell yeah great cover can’t wait to see Rose play again

The Shock Exchange has a saying for moments like this, “Sometimes you gotta watch what you wish for.”

  • LakeShow

I too have sayings for moments like this…

  • shockexchange

The Shock Exchange already knows the SLAM Top 50:

    (i) SLAM 2012 Top 50

    (ii) – Horry Jr
    (iii) + Anthony Bennett
    (iv) = SLAM 2013 Top 50

  • LakeShow

    See previous post…

  • RKJ92

Their opting out to re-sign to better contracts though spit, everyone knows that; they are all vets looking only to win a championship, and they won’t win it anywhere else with both conferences so top-heavy, 100% they re-sign in Miami.

  • Joey

Not dissin or anything but even Easy-E returned before Derrick Rose

  • spit hot fiyah

just saying that they have an option. personally i don’t think bosh and wade opt out since they probably wont get as much money under a new deal. and lebron can go wherever he wants, top heavy doesn’t matter to him. he is thinking money, on and off the court.

  • pposse

can wade opt out of his deal to get more years with miami at a reduced rate? If so i bet on anything thats what wade will do.

  • Busta213

Slam jinx? You mean the Nets werent champs by 2001? But I was counting on it……

  • andrewwoods86

He only wants to win a championship? as in singular, as in one? ok…..I guess

  • RKJ92

LeBron’s not going anywhere.. he’s about winning championships and sealing a legacy for himself, money is probably important to him but it’s not his main drive, he’s in the top ten most paid athletes in the world grossing something like 40 million annually, he’s about winning championships, and I doubt he’ll have a better offer on the table then Miami.

  • Lover for the game

Imma need all HATERS to hop off!!!

  • Michael Scott

    that’s what she said

  • HoopsType

Why do people find Rose’s return so grand? W/o Rose the Bulls are still good with Rose they are better, but Rose isn’t able to increase his teammates level of play like Lebron or Rajon Rondo.

Pacers reupped and have a better team than the Bulls.

    East Order:

Heat (Hopefully they sign Beasley or Stephen Jackson)
    Pacers
    Nets
    Bulls
    Knicks
Pistons (don’t sleep they went from V6 to V12 with a front court of Drummond, Monroe, Smith)
    Cavs (IfBynum is healthy)
Wizards/ Bucks (OJ Mayo can bust out for a career year)

  • http://h2hoops.wordpress.com/ Habeeba Husain

I just don’t like it when good guys are out with injuries. I’m not even a Bulls fan. But it’s better for the game of basketball when players like Rose (and Rondo, Love, Kobe, Westbrook, etc., etc.) are healthy.

  • Max

Without DRose the Bulls are just a good team.
A lesser version of Memphis I would say.
With DRose they are a contender.

  • HoopsType

Contender for what… losing in the semis in the Eastern conference playoffs.

Lets get real for two minutes. If rose was on the heat and Lebron was on the Bulls. Luol Deng would have been a three time Champion. If it wasn’t Lebron, Lenny Cooke would have won the Bulls 3x titles.

  • HoopsType

Penny Hardaway, Grant Hill, Penny Hardawy, Sam Bowie, Grant Hill, Ronnie Fields, Penny Hardaway, Grant Hill, Tracy McGrady, Penny Hardaway,Yao MING

If Penny, TMac, Grant Played together… w/o no health injuries WOWZERS

  • K_HOLIDAY

    Lol

  • Whatnow

Bosh n wade r not leaving 60mil onthe table

  • Basketball Coach

this is some epic cover Slam!

  • Jay Brodes

    no mamba cover..come on slam!!!

  • Tim Powers

    Should have been Curry.

  • Tim Powers

    But, very badass cover.

  • Evan Boland

    (img)https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BTCxcNICYAArJv9.jpg:large(img)

  • Evan Boland

    ya..

  • Evan Boland

Ya, and Adrian came back after 8 months.. Rose couldnt even play after 12.. so..

  • Evan Boland

Who knows? We’re all so mixed now. But not me! Pure and proud.

  • Evan Boland

No. Bron’s opting out, and Heat will not be winning championships untill Bosh and Wade do NOT have max contracts, which IS possible, ’cause ya’ll know Lebron doesnt like having too much weight on his shoulders.

  • Evan Boland

Wouldn’t Bosh and Wade wanna opt in ’cause they won’t get as much if they don’t? I rly don’t know, not trying to start an argument, just wondering. Bosh won’t make near 18 mil if he opts out, so why would he? Think he will take a pay cut to stay in MIA?

  • ClutchKid

Paul george article.. FINALLY! .. I think, PG is also good for a cover…

  • RKJ92

Evan they are veterans, they don’t care about money, they care about winning chips.. Tim Duncan, Dirk Nowitzki, Kevin Garnett, Kevin Durant (off the top of my head), all took paycuts to make it work (Dirk is taking one this summer publicly announced) there is no reason heading into their 30′s they will opt out to make more money.. all they care about is championships. You love Kobe Evan, tell me do you think back in 09′ when the Lakers were winning chips and hypothetically speaking IF it was a contract year for him he would leave the Lakers to make more money? helllllll noooooo.. veterans only want rings man.

  • kent

Hoopstype: why do find his return so grand? Are u stupid?! Former MVP, one of the most exciting players n da league, and we havent seen him play in over a year. Really? If u a basketball fan, u should understand. A team should still be a solid team w/o their best player if the team is a true contender. When jordan retired the 1st time, didnt Pippen lead the bulls to the 2nd round? Yeah. ’94 Bulls couldnt win a ring w/o Jordan just like the current Bulls cant win a ring w/o Drose. Getcha Mind right. Dont compare rondo to Drose, Rondo will never the leader or the best player on a contender.

  • Evan Boland

No but I can understand a small paycut, but don’t you think MIA wants to pay Bosh, and probably Wade, SIGNIFICANTLY less than the max after this year? I don’t seem them continuing to win chips after this year with the current roster.

  • uqk

because he’s adidas golden child…league sponsor. got to hype him up

  • jem

Can someone please tell me when the next mag comes out, also how often like every month ext

  • Busta213

……….Have you not watched the last 2 seasons of playoff basketball?

  • Max

If they get lucky, and are fully healthy playing a weaker Miami like they were last year with the injuries and stuff I could see them beating em.
So a contender for the Chip.

  • pposse

a D Rose led team played the Heat exactly once in the playoffs, your basing everything you say in regards to the Bulls on one playoff run in which the man you are talking about was a third year ball player. Take those lebron reflectors off homie.

  • pposse

Lebron has rarely gotten double teamed in the past two years. Call Bosh and Wade what you want to call them, but defenders won’t leave those guys to double on Lebron. The Spurs strategy was a gimmick, give the man who shot %56 field goals throughout the year all the space in the world to shoot the ball, because they can’t double off him. He found his touch just in the nick of time, but everyone needs to understand that Pop had a flaky coaching strategy that IF worked would have exposed Lebron to everything Evan just said.

  • RKJ92

Evan they are the Champions right now; you don’t see it because you don’t like them. I’m realistically expecting Bosh, and Wade to re-sign into contracts worth 12-14 million each, I highly doubt they get any more then that amount. LeBron will get paid around 16-18 million. The whole team will make sacrifices to win. I have no doubt in my mind Wade, and Bosh sign for less to gain another solid role player with the extra money in order to stay on top of the east in the coming years. Pat Riley isn’t stupid he knows exactly what he’s doing, and I would never count Miami out because of that.

  • pposse

    you mean Adrian PEDerson

  • AboveYou

He’s the only guy that’s been basically begging people to test him so, no. As usual, you’re wrong.

  • CzechMate

    Ain’t that the truth!!

  • JibbsIsBallin

Sick black and white cover. Has SLAM had a black and white cover before? I hope Rose get a ring also.

  • Busta213

Outside of the Spurs series, Im inclined to somewhat disagree – Lebron gets doubled TONS when he posts up (which is fine with him as hes always looking for the open man)…..and he sees heaps of help D when hes on the wing too – its a case of picking your poison – him scoring vs. involving teammates..

The pressure was never off Lebron to be the superstar. Of course guys stepped when needed, but he took and made some huge shots in some implausable wins.

As awesome as Bosh and Wade are on paper (and were in the regular season), in the playoffs, Bosh averaged 12ppg and Wade 16ppg. Those are not superstar outputs – its obvious who did the heavy lifting.

  • pposse

and when did he start asking for the testing? July …August 2013? And when did he come back from his knee problem?…September 2012?

And calm down, it was a sarcastic comment and a play on his name more than anything…But @Aboveyou mad argh argh he no take his steroids and protein for the day aargh…junkie gtfoh

  • pposseisagroupie

Stop sucking Rose’a d!ck so much, groupie. Adrian, Easy E, Shump, and others have made much faster and less drama filled returns from the same type of injury as Rose. That’s a fact. No one needs you defending Rose at every turn just because someone highlights what other guys have done better than your crush, which in this case means healing. Stop being such a f)ucking groupie. You’re not on Rose’s payroll, ho.

  • docioraw

If u put Bron on every team they’ll be better though.

  • The Philosopher

    That afro was epic…

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

it didn’t work. So, just like if it did, everyone would be saying basically what Evan is. We shouldn’t be acting like it’s still somehow true. it doesn’t work to do that against LeBron. this has been proven. Evan people might as well just accept that.

  • The Philosopher

I expect a FT% of at least, 87% from Rose this coming season.

  • danpowers

when rose last played howard was still with the magic, allen with the celtics, kidd with the mavericks and bron didnt have a ring – that black n white cover makes quite some sense. feels like an eternity since that kid played.

  • pposse

double teaming won’t work? It might not, but still think its the best strategy overall against Lebron.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

no, i was talking about forcing him to shoot. letting him beat himself. like Evan is so convinced still works…..even though it just didn’t….for the second year in a row.
    .
Double Teaming wouldn’t work no matter who his teammates are (assuming they can at least shoot) — he’s way too big and too skilled a passer to double team consistently.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

LeBron has been on like 10 covers over the last 2 years…..

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

    yes

  • Pingback: SLAM ONLINE | » Derrick Rose Visits Japan and China (PHOTOS)

  • pposse

not saying that double teaming is the formula to beat lebron just that its your best bet, put the ball in other players hands to beat you pretty much. Other than that, what are you going to do? He’s a freak of nature, you can’t press up on him individually, you can’t sag off him you need to make him pass and since he is willing to do taht, you gotta make him pass to the one guy on the floor that you will be ‘okay’ with beating you. Pretty much whoever is guarding Mario Chalmers or the Heat pg’s should be the guy double teaming Lebron.

  • LakeShow

    hehe, I like it. You’re right tho…

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

what would i do? i would make LeBron average 40+ in a playoff series. That’s what I would do. Literally leave LeBron in one on one coverage all game every game. And not help on him at all. Try and turn his unselfish nature against him.

  • pposse

interesting, that might actually work. Just don’t think that any coach would be willing to do that and be the guy that had Lebron just score 40 ppg against their team. Its almost asking to get fired in a way. Only coaches like Thibs, Pop could get away with that, keeping in mind that nearly all coaches in the league seem expendable these days.

  • Deckard

I’m well aware of that fact, as you can see in another comment I posted here. That just makes me think: even the SLAM Jinx can’t stop LeBron.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

well yeah, i wouldn’t do that in the regular season. just the playoffs. it’s something he literally has never experienced as a player this good. might be the sort of thing to make him really uncomfortable.
    .
i mean, if you went through 5+ years of defenses playing “safe” on you, then all of the sudden they put their best defender on you with full pressure. giving you no space. but then not helping at all anywhere around him. That would at least take a little bit to get used to. If it wouldn’t work for a whole series, you would at least get a few quarters out of it. at least i think so.

  • alexito

    Cavs? hahaha

  • Evan Boland

It actually did.. SA had the chance to win using that strategy.. It worked perfectly.. They just gave it away.. Did you watch it?

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

LOL, things that work perfectly succeed. They “gave” it away in game 6. And were totally buried in game 7. Doing largely the same thing.
    .
I don’t know if you have ever heard the saying (<– sarcasm), "close only counts in horse shoes and handgrenades"
    .
The Spurs were close to succeeding. But they didn't. Accept it.

  • John Havilicek

Listen, people said the same thing about LeBron when he first got to Miami that he couldn’t make his teammates better or he was making passes when he should have shot or vice versa blah blah. He had the time to prove himself and now you on his D.

Get real man. It’s going to be a great season and seeing Derrick Rose play for the first time in 2 years… you’re gonna be trying to stop yourself from creaming your pants in front of your friends when you see him play next year, no doubt.
