The trick is, if one guy goes for a ton of points, that’s OK — just make sure the rest of the team is under control. Well achtung, baby! The Mavs were kept relatively under control — 23 for Howard, 16 for Stackhouse, 14 for Jason Terry. But Dirk Nowitzki was unstoppable, which may not be a strong enough description. Standing on the right corner of the free throw line, Dirk stroked jumper after jumper, like he was playing pop-a-shot basketball. He finished with 50 points, and Dallas has moved one win away from advancing to the Conference Finals. More later today in The Links…

    Dirk can be stopped. He cannot play rough ball, and will move away from rough play. He will rattle, and not hit, lose his confidence, not stackhouse or Diop, they are the tough ones, just like RaJa for the suns. Only the meeting will tell which team will be up for that night, either one can win. Nash wants it so bad that he will take on the entire Mavs team and so will Bell. No doubt their meeting will be the best game of the season, should be the NBA Finals, not conference.
