Polladaday: Most Questionable Free Agent Signing So far?

A bunch of free agents have been snagged off the market in the first two days of activity. Many head scratchers that make me truly wonder 1. Who hired these GMs? and 2. These agents are machines! What does SLAM Nation think? Leave us some comments with your thoughts.

What is the most questionable free agent signing thus far?

I am declaring myself a free agent right here on SLAMonline. Any teams looking to sign someone who will never contribute on the court and is not nearly talented enough to play in the league and garner millions…i’m looking at you David Kahn ;) … please reach out to me via the SLAMonline comments board.

It’s nice to know that Toronto’s going to spend so much money to keep the role players for a 35-win team.

How is the Joe Johnson deal not on here?
After collapsing in the playoffs, he gets a max deal with Atlanta. At his age, and as a #2 option at best on a good team, his contract is a joke.
I can’t wait to see him playing at 35 while he makes more money than most of the NBA.

Actually they won 40 games Kevin

The Amir Johnson deal is more proof (as if we didn’t have enough already) that Toronto has no direction right now and Bosh is making the right decision. Interesting, Colangelo did a pretty good job in Phoenix and I thought he would be just what the Raptors needed to try and take that next step…what is he thinking?

My vote goes to “other”, AKA Joe Johnson. Yes, he’s an all-star and a great player and all that, but that contract is too big and too long for him. Also, I didn’t know Hakim Warrick had gotten inked. Good for him. I wish all the Bulls players (those who were mostly just there for future salary cap relief) that won’t be coming back well.

yeah my vote is Other for Joe Johnson as well – that’s just a huge albatross of a contract

  • DAVID KAHN

Is anybody interested to get payed in exchange of nothing? If you are a point guard, I’ll give you a bonus!

If the Knicks give Amar’e a max deal that will go down as the most questionable deal. Amar’e and Curry: the lazy twin towers.

  • Kap

I don’t find anything wrong with the Rudy Gay deal..the dude can flat out ball. The Grizzlies had to show that they appreciate him bc look what happened when the Lakers were reluctant to throw money @ Ariza.

  • Jose

I woulda picked Darko’s Deal but Kahn Did it so ther isn’t much to question .haha

Not sure why you include the Rudy Gay signing and not the Joe Johnson signing.

And in a couple years, the Rudy Gay signing might not seem so crazy. The guy still has potential to be an elite player.

@Kap: what happened? he proceeded to shoot 30% as the main scoring option early in the season for the rockets?

  • Conoro

^ And they got a second championship thanks in no small part to his replacement.

    BAD DEAL, though. Clearly!

  • MikeC.

The Joe Johnson ‘signing’ can’t be included because Joe hasn’t accepted it yet. If/when he accepts it, then it’s a terrible contract. Until then, it’s just a terrible idea.

  • Jacqueline Mitchell

How on earth did that happen??? !!! Has Toronto lost their collective minds !!!

  • tim w.

    theyre all questionable

  • Bryan Colangelo

    I SUCK!

  • ClydeSays

Got to be Joe Johnson or Amare. Neither has proven they be ‘the guy’ in crunch time. Amare’s is especially bad since he’s missed so much time to injury. Ironic that they both talked their way out of Phx to play for worse teams.
