Brook Lopez to Miss Three Weeks With Ankle Sprain

The severity of Brook Lopez’s right ankle sprain has everyone fretting about what it means for a potential Dwight Howard trade. No one knows for sure, the only certainty is that Lopez won’t be on the court for at least 3 weeks. From the Star-Ledger: “The Nets say they will update his condition March 23. For the immediate future, Lopez’ right foot has been placed in a protective boot, the team said. Of course, there still exists a possibility Lopez won’t be on the Nets by then. The fact he is injured does not mean the Nets couldn’t trade him. It would be up to the team acquiring him to decide if it wished to take on an injured player. Lopez sprained his ankle early in the third quarter of Sunday’s win over the Charlotte Bobcats. The injury is to the same foot that Lopez had surgery on in December to repair a broken bone. That injury caused him to miss the first 32 games of the season. He returned in the 33rd game of the season, against Milwaukee, then sat out the next game, against the Knicks, before returning again in the final game before the All-Star break — against Howard and Orlando.”
